As everyone knows July is the month that we all choose for our mayhem of unbridled fun on the water.
That being, the launches, kiddy pools and wave spots will be feeling the strains of traffic and user limits.

To keep the stoke alive and everyone as safe as possible, let's all remember to ride with safety in mind. That means no close fly by's with kiters/windsurfers that you don't know, giving EVERYONE at least a little bit of safety room when passing each other, taking turns when playing in the butter slicks and swell areas, and finally, when launching/landing always seek help so that you can launch quickly and safely. Oh yeah, and when at the Event Site keep your gear out of the way of others and remember to not block the launch/landing areas.

A SPECIAL NOTE FOR THOSE WHO LIKE TO SHOW OFF (AKA - I'm a PRO KITER):
Please don't be a dick and perform your favorite tricks or big airs right in front of the beach or beginners area. It impresses no one.
In fact, it actually upsets a lot of people who are there to either launch/land and have to wait for you while you have to either recover your board/kite, or wait for the people that freaked out and are having to recover from your fly by.
Same goes for visiting the popular windsurf spots. Going into a popular windsurf spot to show off your skills in an area where absolutely no one could care less who you are or about kiteboarders at all, actually does the local kiteboard community a large dis-service by instigating a negative reputation for kiteboarding.
You do no good for your sponsors, and you do even less for the locals that know who you are and what you are doing (yes, we know who you are, duh!)
We will not name names, but from our most recent incident, it is well understood who did what and what brands were represented. Hopefully this is not a representation of what will happen as more pro riders come to town to enjoy what Hood River has to offer to the international kite community.

Let's all have fun and here's a little reminder about what it all comes down to for enjoying a little afternoon delight from our very special friend who knows a lot about love, Mr. Ron Burgundy.
