Pepi- my fiance warned me not to post yesterday, but I felt so angry and betrayed by the guy and his friend. I never wanted to implicate you or your shop, especially because I know you are a very honest and well-respected person in the community. Also because I thought it was BS that a few adults couldn't solve their own conflict- we really thought that we would call this guy's bluff when we mentioned going to the shop and were just waiting for him to finally admit it. I'm sorry you were involved at all- it shouldn't have gone down like it did.

I would recommend you PM me on this or call the shop.

I am heading down to the shop today and will work on a sales report to determine when each of these boards was sold and attempt to correlate a date with the owners of the date they purchased the board.

In the meantime, I will expect for you to provide me with a copy of your purchase receipt and a date for the sheriffs report (I will call them up to check in with them as well) so we can know the dates you purchased the board and the date you reported it stolen.

If this is to be an even battle or legal situation, then I need to know evidence from both sides.

As for the inconsistencies you are claiming, well, they were seemed really, really pissed off that someone had taken their board from the beach, that they had to ask around to find out who took their board, then find you and have you confront them of stealing. I'd actually be pretty emotionally pissed as well.

Our shop will have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH STOLEN ITEMS we work closely with the Hood River Police Dept, County Sheriffs Dept and the Port of Hood River attempting to always track down stolen and lost items so as to both help the community and avoid getting in any legal situations between private individuals.

You have my contact information call me and let me know when you will come by and I will provide you with whatever information I can to prove this customers purchase.

I will not reply or respond to any further accusations on this thread.

I have PM'd you a copy of their sales receipt. Check you box.

This all could have been avoided IF YOU WROTE YOUR NAME AND NUMBER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BOARD.

If you didn't make a police report whenh it got lost or stolen, or at least post in the forums that it was lost with a detailed description of the repairs...

Then in a nutshell your fucked. It sucks, but you basically haven't got a leg to stand on.

Not saying you couldn't take a jetski, knock the guy off the skim and take it back though.

Name was on it. You can see where it was scratched off. Incidentally it was claimed that they had done a ding repair right there. The "repair" is about 1x8" near the rail on the bottom. I should hide my name on my boards next time though.

Also to clear things up:

We didn't know the board was stolen until yesterday. I had thought it was lost:

Dude buys board from second wind years ago, his kid loses it, happens to see yours sitting on the beach, decides its his now, takes your name off, gives it back to dad.

Something like this rarely happens around here though for the most part! I just wouldn't leave your gear sitting around at the Event Site on a busy weekend either. I would think most of the thefts that occur would be from bystanders not any kiters or windsurfers, most of whom are generally cool people.

I completely agree that is an extremely improbable scenario, but i'm not sure why we would assume whatever was originally purchased was lost. It's more likely he scored a second board. Board is gone. Lesson learned.
At this point, the discussion is more about who is being honest.

It could be a situation where they really believe the board is theirs and you really believe the board is yours... hopefully that is the case and whoever it is didn't knowingly rip you off!

Pepi- nobody has accused you of anything. We are not making this legal, nor did I even mention your name prior to you blowing your own whistle. This is really out of hand. I didn't want to involve you on this thread, that's why I didn't mention your shop AT ALL. I just wanted to blow off some steam. We obviously have differing opinions on the truth here. It is what it is.

I think there is one good lesson we can all take away from this -
If you have a used board, and it has the previous owners info on it, rather than scratching it away so it is invisible, just do a simple line through it and write your info below. It will be pretty obvious who's board it is, and will look less sketch with the "is this a stolen board?" question as it will pretty obvious who the previous owner was, who the current one is, and that the current owner has nothing to hide. If nothing else, if your own info gets smudged or something, maybe the previous owner can be contacted should you lose your board and they can help get you your board back.

It Is PRETTY OBVIOUS What people need to do from now on to protect their property.

Go Old School!

No, I meant Spy School!

Write your name on a spot with a regular indelible marker.

Then, Also, Write your name in a few other places with an
Indelible Invisible Ultraviolet Light Marker.

The Regular marker name is the decoy they will scratch out.

Without a UV lamp, they will NEVER know your name is written in various
other spots until you shine a light on the truth!

I know, I'm devious.......[b]

I made a suggestion that this post should be locked. Sorry. For the sake of the parties involved this situation should be handled face-to-face, not on a public forum.

This seems like a HUGE misunderstanding, and highly doubt that either skim-rider would steal anything from anyone. Period. We all work hard so we can play harder.
