Here is the current graph for Sauvies. With Jones going and Stevenson gusting over 30 - I would think Sauvies would pick up some of that energy.

I would think so too but the wind line at the airport reads variable at 3. Maybe it isn't here yet?

Right now SI is holding steady at about 10mph. You could go there and hang out until it MAYBE gets strong enough for your biggest kite and kite for MAYBE an hour - or you could take an extra 30 mins to get to Jones and kite for sure in 10 meter winds till dark............. The question is - do you like to kite, or do you like to stand on the beach waiting to kite?

SI rocked last night. And the night before.
It's far from being a Stevenson or Jones. It is available for west siders to hit after work. That's its redeeming value. And when it works good, its great. If you want better, consistent wind, go elsewhere.
If you are counting on the sensors to give you an idea of what's actually happening out there, you are only going to get a vague idea at best. The iwindsurf sensor is brilliantly located behind a line of tall trees when the wind is blowing from the north (why did they even bother...). The SI sensor is located about 100 yards inland at the far south end of the beach and its also behind a tree line.
All that said, I'm happy when there's only about a dozen kiters or less out, so feel free to whine.

If your talking about the sensor down that little road right as one enters the parking areas, that is a DEQ air quality sensor. The Scappose sensor on Ikite is the same as the Scappose industrial airport, about 5 miles WSW of kite beach...503-543-6401
