I had a dog who would swim across the river and out pas the break, and that was my biggest fear. She moved to Wyoming so no longer a concern. Her kiting enthusiasm I thought was unrivaled, sounds like Sadie was cut from the same cloth. This is heartbreaking and I am very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you. I hope the process goes as well as possible for you. |

I hate to fan false hope, but Nicole has a good point. Sadie could have been swept downriver or gotten out on the WA side... With the current she could be miles and miles from Kitebeach. A fisherman could have picked her up. She seems like a great dog; I hope you end up finding her safe and sound somewhere. |

The barges are anchored about 50' from shore, and that's where I saw her last.
I suppose it's possible she got taken downstream, but that doesn't match her m.o.
She would have swam to the beach and then run back up to the launch.
But the current was kind of strong at the time, and although there was a couple of miles of beach, if she went past the tip of Hayden Island, she would have been swept way down stream for sure.
I hope she finds a good home, if she survived, although it's highly unlikely that she did.
I can't get her out of my head. Still tears |

She already has a good home...get in your car and go check out the WA side. Ask around....post pictures etc. It will help with your closure. Assuming no dog ='s dead is lazy for something you love. A dogs instinct to survive is incredible and should not be discounted....ever. |

agree with the post pictures and look around etc. maybe post pictures at the local post office/general store, etc?
when driving along lake creek in OR, I saw a big goofy lab along the side of the road. my buddy said "oh, he knows where he is" but he looked lost to me so i scooped him up and drove him back to eugene. called the local general store the next day, they said "oh i think that's mabels dog, let me call her". talked to mabel she said "you have alex, hooray", we met in veneta she gave me $20 (slipped into my backpack when i wasnt looking).
the point of the story - alex was lost. he'd gotten turned around and climbed up the wrong river bank. he had no freaking clue how to get home. he'd swum in the river for 10+ years, this was apparently the first time he'd emerged on the wrong bank.
so it can happen to experienced river dogs. might be a glimmer of hope here. look a bit harder for sadie. |

David sorry to hear about your cute little Sadie, she was a great little dog. I hope that she made the swim to the other side of the river. The barges could have disorientated her as they are normally not out there.
Take care David. _________________ It's all good |

Ron Burgundy says "stay sexy Blokt - keep looking for your dog that went into the river. He might be having a trippy adventure and trying to find you". |
