Summer must be close because north/west conditions were perfect for Fort Stevens. It is just a little nerve racking kiting from parking lot B to the shipwreck all by yourself! The conditions made up for the lack of company. 12 meter, sunny, smooth waves and clear water. I did have a bit of a fright half way through when I encountered a shark. Fortunately for me it was only a log that looked like a shark. Hey I was all alone. Hopefully I can ride with you guys next time!

One guy out at stevenson on a perfect 12m day.
epically failed to self launch TWICE! First time got the kite up alright, too powered to get back to the beach for my board. Body dragged down to the 9th hole green, walked back, 2nd time took my board with, but the kite was inverted.

Hope some people show up manana, supposed to be good!

p.s. Later when it was nearly over. Sean sean went out on his big kite, and headed str8 downwind. I drove down to Cascade Locks, (looked like he was headed there) but he never showed up, I think it died before he got there.

He's probably still clawing his way out of blackberrie bushes.

Sean, Sean, where have you gone?

People must be giving up the sport or finding something else to do on perfect kiting days!

Soloed perfect 10m conditions with small head high surf at South Beach today. Warm, sunny, windy, steady, and it looked like a ghost town. Oh well, somebody has got to do the dirty job of killing the wind!

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Only two of us in Seaside.

A few speed runs in the river and then out to the mouth.

Like Loneski said... sunny, steady breeze, water was clear and warm.

Sweet pix. Looks Epic. Where is that spot at in Seaside? Kited North/Central and South coast but never at that spot. Looks great!

It was a good day. The spot is located on the north end of Seaside next to the entrance of Necanicum river. Go west on 12th avenue and right on N Franklin.

Be respectful of peoples homes in that area and parking. Seems like I'm the only guy most of the time so I don't see how crowds could be a problem.

If you want to sail in the bay or the river, you need high tide otherwise there isn't much water. Just south of the river entrance off the beach is fun because there's a sandbar that runs north to south which produces some flat water. You can also park anywhere on the north end of town and just walk down to the beach.

The downside is Manzanita will typically have more wind. There can be absolutely no wind in Seaside but blowing north or south. That's probably why few people go there. I would not go there based on anticipating wind. If its blowing, then great.

Well said Bill. You can easily sit around all day waiting for that session in Seaside and it doesn't happen, or only blows for an hour or so while Manzo or the north strip is pumping. If you need a session to start before the sun gets down in your eyes, most of us head to Manzo Very Happy

I'm passing through the area Tuesday and Wed. I would prefer a coast session. Does it look like Ft Stevens or Manzo will work Tuesday?

thanks for the reply,

Noah

Check the cleanline surf web site. Surf report looks great. Lots of wind just about anywhere you go today. Nice pictures Bill. It is crazy how evil and angry the ocean can be during the winter.

The pattern is actually a low from north so not a classic high pressure until later in the evening and certainly looking at high pressure pattern Wed-weekend. Could really go anywhere today so maybe stick around Seaside / north strip??

Manzo was perfect Tuesday! 11m kite, 3' swell and sunshine for the first half.
