Hi,

Here is some info for Puerto Vallarta. The best spot to ride is Bucerias which is just 30 minutes from Puerto Vallarta. Small town with everything you need. The wind season starts in March to late June or early July depends on the rain season. The wind usually starts light by 11 am and by 1 pm is 20 knots consistent in April through June.Once the 1st rain comes the wind season is over. Regular sizes are 10 and 12 mts kites.

The will be a racing event called Copa Mexico from March 12-19th so if you are near the area please come in to participate. Here is the link for more information.

If you need more info feel free to ask will be happy to help.

What are the thoughts on the need for a rental car? Is it worth it, or should we just take taxis everywhere?

I say get a car. It's rather spread out, unless you're staying in one area, but the whole coast from north of Sayulita all the way south to PV is really worth exploring. Mexico is a big place- lots to see.

Plus due to the number of tourists in the area the prices for taxis for non locals isn't cheap.

Having never been there before myself, can you give some recommendations as to what to see?

Also, any idea on water temps right now?
