It is a killer kite. My all time favorite. It does anything but racing really well, come to think of it..it would probably do that okay too.  What size are you looking at?
Lots of people over here are using them as their first kite with great success.
Super fast turning, great windrange, easy to handle, doesn't have bad habits, medium gruntyness whcih makes it super fun for ware riding.
If it is your first kite, it does relaunch easy. Holds up well for most any type riding. It is not super extreme in terms of looping, whcih is probably a good thing. You can adjust both the power of the kite and the desired bar pressure. Lot of options. Bar also comes with line extensions. In addition there is a light wind relaunch system. I've never had to use it, but it does work. Might be a good option in the beginning to make it even easier to relaunch.
For beginners the anti-stiction window might be good to have. It you drop your kite it helps empty the canopy for water as you relaunch the kite.
Either way. Super fun kites. |

hey terry, the parks are a good choice.
up in seattle the local school had taught with them last summer.
personally if I was getting my first kites, I would probably opt for the bolt.
assuming you would be riding these in the gorge, it can be gusty conditions and the bolt would be more forgiving.
not trying to downplay the parks, they are a good performance kite.
btw I ride both the 2011 and 2012 parks but keep a 2011 7m bolt in my quiver for those nukers.

Can someone comment on the improvements to the '12 bar, as compared to the '10? I have the 2010 Naish bars and although they are great, there have been at least 3 times where I've been terribly annoyed with them. When you've release the CL, sometimes the bar, de-power cleat, and pulley slam into a tight bind that cannot be solved on the water. Requiring a swim of shame.

I think they got that message. They have changed the cleat a lot. The angle is changed and then they have added a little ring around it so it will not get stuck.
They have a swivel thingy. Kind of big, but the front lines are more accessible than last years. The grip is improved from last year and the stopper now also have a variable stopper than you can adjust to set your max depower throw.
I have not had what you describe happen, but then again it did not happen on my 2010 either (no I am not saying that you do something wrong..). |

This would only happen when I attached my kite leash to the grommet at the end of the de-power strap. Good news is that with this method all the lines will stay straight after a CL release. Bad news is that sometimes the depower strap will fully extend and causing the above issue.
And hooking to the yellow kite leash attachment almost always causes a kluster fuk of tangled lines when the bar travels up the lines too high towards the kite.
In Brazil this fall I started hooking into the CL and all is good, but kite can still have considerable power if you were in a sketchy situation. I only use this method for tricks in very predictably smooth winds.
Thinking Parks for my 9 & 12.... Bolt for my 6 as soon as I get home from Mexico.

See if you can test the bar thingy. I mean the new holster on the line keeps the thingy from locking in, but that is the other way. I do think it is easier to change the depower. I'll tes once I get my boots. I've been thinking about it, and I think I know what you mean. I've not had it happen..but I don't think the situation has been there wha.
Now on the sizes, I think we think alike  Great combo  What winds will you be using them in? The Park any size goes. I just also just got the 6 Bolt. Have not had a chance to take it out yet.
It is windy as shit here, and huge waves, and I am f#$^ing sick. |

Pretty much everything... Roosevelt, Rufus, Gorge, Coast, Tacoma, and Ocean Shores Wa.

Get well quick. I've never been healthier and I'm stuck in 19 days of skunk in Southern Mexico, but the margaritas are still great.

You can hook the safety leash to both the yellow flag line and the Chicken Loop at the same time. That way if you drop the kite unhooked it will only flag out to the stopper on the de-power line and you can hook back in real easy but if you decide to pull the plug and release the CL then it flags to the yellow line for full safety. I do not like hooking to the de-power line since the safety dangles to much if I de-power at all. The above method works great. |

You must be referring to a bar newer than 2010? With mine if I leash to the CL, and then cut-a-way in a crash, I think the hardware at the end of the CL will not fit through the kite leash clip (by design?). Otherwise, your method sounds great.
If it's a newer than '10 Naish Bar... has there been an improvement on the tangling mess issue once you've released to the yellow safety and the bar has run up the lines towards the kite?

2012 Parks are sweet kites. 
I can't really add more to Tautologies... he described them well actually.
turning, range, waves, handling all great with a bit more low end than last year and just enough bar pressure to "feel" the kite.
(plus the graphics are cool)

Kippy my sweets,
the 2010 bar had the potential of jamming when hooked on the de-power line(not the yellow flag out). In 2011 naish put a black stopper ball between the black regular stop(where both lines go through so your bar will stop) and the loop over part. This stopped the jamming. 2011 bars still had the lame 1 center line though. 2012 they have a nice swivel, and went back to 2 center lines(thankyou). If you ever come back home Allan, you and me can compare all the years. But get the 2012 for sure. Also, sweet Damon butter for 3 1/2 hours, and then 2 hours of waves yesterday. Come home, your drysuit misses you. |

You can get a little steel ring for that. A buddy of mine use that. Looks like a great setup. I'm just using the depower strap hough.
The new leash seems to have taken that setup into consideration (I do not know this for a fact, but the thingy is wider).
If I had not been sick I would test it for you. I am still waiting for my boots. I just got the board. Biggest arcade they have...sitting in its plastic. Shit.
