When I lived in Maui, 94-96, sharks were there. I surfed Paia Park in the am and Hookipa in the pm. There was a local guy who spear fished nearly every day at Hookipa. He would free swim with a stringer on a big laundry detergent jug, trailing about 20 yards behind him.
One day as i was rigging to go out windsurfing around 4pm he was swimming in really fast without his jug. When he reached the beach he was obviously in distress. Out of curios concern I went over to see if I could help. In his conversation with locals he explained that, he got another good batch of fish.. It turns out that a large Tiger Shark, 12 to 15 ft., had stole his stringer of fish again. He also explained that it happened about once every couple of weeks.
Sharks keep the crowds away. In my opinion it's what makes it more fun to surf when you know that a shark could be lurking about. The logic that we need to eliminate a rouge shark is kind of a thinking error.
If you surf at seaside in the spot where this woman was test bitten then you know that it could happen to you?
Makes it kind of exciting to think who will be next??

More than likely it'll be a pissed off driver that gets serves my winning ticket.
I guess my perspective is that life is for the living. Yesterday I attended my cousin's funeral. She was 35 years old and the kindest person I've ever known. Breast cancer killed her after a long 2 year battle. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who stands a chance of getting attacked by a shark, but honestly I'm not that worried about.

I'm not worried about much.

I don't know, it depends. Is the shark cross-dressing as well as wearing make up? Maybe the shark is trying to blend in so it can get closer to it's prey. It goes without saying that a make up wearing shark would be a man eater, I mean seals won't be fooled by rosy red cheeks... So, yeah, any shark wearing rouge should be eliminated as a matter of course.

I love sharks. And grizzlies.

Both taste delicious.
