				| It's a good rule actually as it's way too easy for a reasonable discussion to evolve into a pissing match, threats, calling you/he/she/it/kite/style/preference gay, then references to the unicorn, then the honey badger, some more gay comments, and eventually someone is a nazi related to hitler. Best not to go there.
Now, if you had put your post asking what type (not brand) of kite would be easiest for a beginner you would mostly get comments about getting a mid aspect, bridled kite with swept wingtips and nice handling and to stay away from c kites or high aspect kites. But it's a fine line to keep from getting too specific.

Another great topic that can be nearly as fun as skirting brand vs brand is lessons or no lessons. Take the side of teaching yourself if you really want some entertainment!

You can do the same with straps vs no straps, boots vs pads, shorts vs no shorts then move on to other hot topics like secret spots, invading the coast, pictures of mystery spots, pictures of banned spots, etc...

Nwkite is good for hours and hours of entertainment if you play it right!

 Have fun!

				| two plus two is four, the earth is round, and this site doesn't do brand vs brand. Those are the rules, just got to deal with it. It wasn't a newbie thing why your thread was locked. Just policy. | |

There is always kookforum. Give kiting a year and you'll Know why your post was locked. Welcome to the forum don't take it personally.

You'll appreciate it once you get your lessons and start making your own buying decsions.

				| Okeedokee, I think I got what I needed, a shop, a type of kite, and a brand.
I am no stranger to forums, and I know how crazy folks can get on them. I also know moderation can get a little crazy as well, no biggy I will adjust.

Are there banned spots here in Oregon? I know there is regulated access at Event site. But are there any truely "banned" spots? I ask because I have been known to be driving along, and if I see good wind and a place to launch - will sometimes go for it. I don't want to be breaking any rules......

				| If your just beginning then I would just stick to the known spots. There are a couple "secret" spots, one super secret that is now not such a secret spot and well, when you get down to it, there are no real secret spots. Unless they are REALLY secret, and I just don't know about them. So I guess there are secret spots after all.
All that aside, as a beginner your going to want to stick to the known launches that people are going to be kiting at. Kiting in the gorge can be serious business, especially in the fall and early spring. Allot of the lesser known spots are doable but many have tricky wind shadows, little space, or other hazards. Better to err on the side of caution instead of ending up a in a crumpled heap on the riprap.
