I'm interested, too. It is supposed to be much better for wave riding after the initial learning curve of having your kite attachment point move from side to side.

Current newest is v6 and they are coming out with a v7 in 2012.

Can we hear from some of our wave riders experience?

Here's a guy who's happy with his design of a sliding spreader.

I've been using the Dynabar for 2 seasons now. Best thing since sliced bread.

I wear Dakine Nitrous shorts and the sliding hook makes surfing soo nice. Toeside is easy and fun, where a fixed spreader on nitrous shorts makes toeside suck.

It is more than worth the $100 for the spreader bar and pad. It will change the way you ride for the better.

I won't be going back to a fixed hook.

Yeah, I totally want one. The v6 newest design, that is. Looks like online is the only place to get one. Unless anyone out there knows where to pick one up locally. Seems like surfing and toeside would be money, using one. Any downsides to this. Are they burly? I don't want my spreader bar popping half a mile out in the ocean!!

I solved this problem for me recently by scoring an older Dakine Pyro waist harness. I could not find a single new kite harness that allows the bar to slide...they all have the metal hook thingys on both sides that kills the concept.

There was a new windsurf model that slides, but the downside is there is no grab handle on the back and no leash attachment.

I immediately removed the impact pad so the bar could move freely back and forth. Initially I had to get used to the freedom again...but soon I was enjoying top turn finishes without that annoying tug. Toeside...yea-yeah!
Thumb's Up
Da-kine...please reintroduce that old Pyro style spreader attachment!

why did people / manufacturers leave the sliding spreader bar for the fixed one? was there some advantage?

personally never bought into it, and find it funny that people are trying to fix a problem that didn't exist 5+ years ago...

nice score slither! hope i can find one when my old pyro finally kicks the bucket (although after unknown years it still is solid)

I like to ride my wave on the power end of the spectrum

I guess I would love to try it to see if there is any lag of power in different transitions where I may not want the lag.

I really don't seem to have a problem with my current set up and my mystic harness bar is sewn in

just trying to feel out some possibilities

lets see some 7m wind and 10+foot swell

so why don't the emoticons work on my computer????

Regi, I don't think there's any power lag issues, just more freedom to rotate....but I would be interested to see what you think after trying it out.

pkh is too busy spending all the riches he makes off this site to fix the emoticon buttons I guess....so you have to type them in....hover on them and look in the lower left to see what to type. colon "lol" colon gets you Laughing

There's no power lag. It just gives you freedom to rotate your body independent of where the kite is pulling your hook.

It makes a world of difference for those that wear a short/seat harness, as they don't slide around like a waist harness can.

I had been riding for years with the hammerhead pivot spreader with nitrous shorts, but you can only rotate so much before the kite wins. With the Dynabar, you just turn your body, totally natural, no pull from the kite to make you face it. It works great with TT's too.

I have the freeride version, with the detent in the middle. If I were to get another I'd just get the wave version, but it looks like the new version you can mix and match parts anyway.

Also, toeside is effortless and you could ride that way all day with this. You can also cut up wind quite a bit toeside as well.

I still can't believe you guys would spend $150 on something you can make for $40 or less. simply buy spreader bar, cut off hood and put on rope, not that hard.

I've been using Dakine sliding bar attachment strap and it works pretty well for 10 bucks.

Whoa. Drock66, I'm too wuss to use a homemade rig like that. The first time that f-in thing snaps while I'm 200 yards past the break line I'd be cursing myself for not buying the dynabar! More power to you though for rockin that rig!
