Fri Aug 05, 11 2:50 pm Siletz Bay -- Beginner Option? |

Is Siletz Bay an option for a beginner if Jones and Sauvies aren't blowing?
I always like options just in case.
Someone brought it up in another thread and said she was doing her lessons there with Oregon Surf Shop. |

I've heard of a number of people kiting on Siletz bay. It's pretty shallow and has logs near the middle and south end, but it always looks nice and seems to keep pretty flat even with big winds. |

If the tides and wind line up siletz is great. Just make sure you check before hand. And bring a helmet - there's a lot of driftwood to hit.
Look at the airnet forcast for newport, anything over 13 during midday means it'll probably go. 15 for sure. It can get really gusty on sw wind or high nw wind due to the terrain surrounding it.
