Just putting in on the record but the next person to get an "amber lamps" to drive around as a kite vehicle deserves the biggest slap in the face.

$5,600. 120,000 miles, chevy 454 engine, and a MONSTER air conditioning unit. Also liked that the body is almost all fiberglass so it will hold up to the salt environment of SPI pretty well. Built in Kansas by El Dorado National.

We took out half the seats and the hydraulic handicap lift. The board rack is made out of PVC and the wire shelves in the back corner are from home depot. Left all the stainless grab rails that were there as they work great for hanging stuff on and for holding on to as we go down the road. We added a home theater type Bose sound system with a subwoofer and two smaller speakers that you plug an mp3 player in to. Sounds awesome.

We didn't set it up for camping or travel as it really just stays on the island. But there is a lot of room in these things and it wouldn't be hard to set up a fridge, bed, cupboards, etc... if you took out more seats and trimmed down the quiver. Lots of airport shuttle services and church groups that use these type of things and sell them at a reasonable cost. Definitely not as well cared for as the ambulances or fire station vehicles are but they're not bad.

Tony

Tony. Killer bus! that thing is crazy.

Phil, your amberlamps is truly sick. I see a 4x4 conversion in your future for sure.

Here is the perfect rig to piss off your fellow Gorge buds! Has the 7.3L Diesel, which is the one to have.

Here is the base rig for ya, sitting in my driveway in Parkdale. 89 E350 extended, professionally converted by Advanced Four Wheel Drive Systems in Salt Lake. Spent most of it's life working for the irrigation district here in HR. 85K miles on the original 351. C6 tranny has maybe 5K on rebuild. Entirely new cooling system right down to the heater core. New ball joints ($1K alone). Needs some exhaust work and... a diesel engine ;^) gets 11 mpg if you run the entire 33 gallons through on the highway. Yours for $2K obo. PM me.

These vehicles need racing stripes, spoilers, and maybe some lowering to be cool.
