Off the shelf and functional.

Is that just PCV pipe. Is it to reduce wear on your harness from the rope sliding back and forth?

What about replacing the flat harness bar hooks and bolt with a pulley? It adds expense but it would reduce friction and wear for the edge of the flat harness bar hook as it is sliding through.

F-one bandit 4 and F-one Volt has a very clean and low profile bar with a short throw distance. Is easy reach for shorter arms

Wainman kites are the bomb...so many reasons for small arms to love em, speed and bar pressure can be tuned for your taste, short throw bar means depower is always within reach and easy to activate, low aspect design means max depower minimum action, wide wind range, super stable, eat up gusty conditions, waterlaunch unbelievable....first kites (5, 7, 9,) my GF truely loves.and she comes from Fuels/ Flows/Ocean Rodeos.... don't let anyone tell you Rabbits are for experts only, these are qualities anyone can appreciate...

It is just half inch cpvc, and is just stiff enough to keep the rope from "purse- stringing" and squeezing your hips. It also keeps the rope close to the kiter's body, when the rope is tensioned, due to the pull from the kite.

If someone did not want a "sliding ring" set up, they could do away with the rope and cpvc bar, and just fasten a ring onto a conventional bar, which has had its' hook ground off. There are many ways to fasten the ring to the center of the bar, but it would not be a good idea to drill a hole through the bar, for an "I" bolt. That hole would weaken the bar, in the worst place, and might cause the bar to break. We learned that fact years ago when we used Wichard shackles for the safety release. Probably the easiest way to fasten the ring to the center of the "hook-less" bar would be with about 10 wraps of Q-Power line.

If there was a lot of demand from short-armed people for such an item, it would be easy for a manufacturer to make a bar with a properly welded-on ring, for the safety to hook through... but there is not much demand for this.

Nothing I have posted here will help the original 5" 2" person, who started this thread, but here is a suggestion that might help her.... get in touch with Bri Chemel...she is about your size, and I remember her being an incredible kiteboarder. If she still kites, she would know exactly what type of kite you would want to buy.

basically you're talking about kites that depower without you having to stretch your arms way out.
i have a wife and 2 daughters that kite (2 of them are under 5'2").
here's what works for them.
the newer the kite the more user-friendly they are for short-arms.
2007 best waroos - bad. 2010 cabrinha and slingshots - good.
wait harness that slides up to your chect - bad.
shorts with builtin harness - good. bar is closer to your body.
slinshot sells a smaller chicken loop for their bars - good. they're now standard on their new kites.
lastly - learn to rig your outside lines on the appropriate knot. on most kites this is the knot furthest away from the kite. this too will bring the bar closer to your body.
