It's that time of the year, the time when the far east goes off.

Gabe & I both agreed that the Roosie to 3 mile (loreks take out) run at 12 miles was too short and the wind ~25 was too light to do this baby justice. I of course agreed having done it some 20 plus times wind surfing in 35mph + conditions.

If it's blowing 30, it will be head high smoothies plus for 70% of the run.

So who's game?

How do you get back to where you started from? Do you hitch hike back?

good thing you taught us how to do it: http://www.nwkite.com/forums/t-2300.html&sid=8a88630df91b91a843f748f9512a11d4

never would have figured it out ourselves!

i do think hitchhiking would be viable though.

You may know how it works, but apparently J.P. needs a little help on the subject. I wouldn't want anyone standing around freezing for hours waiting for a ride back. Just looking out for my fellow kiters.

hahaha very funny gabe!

bandito this whole shuttle concept has been explored for years by whitewhater kayak people (who go downriver instead of downwind but basically same thing).

basic rule is help a brother out! you see a brother paddler hitchhiking you give him a lift. you see a brother standing around at the take out ask if he needs a lift etc.

in fact i have down the following
--> put in by myself with no-one around.
--> paddled downriver assuming someone will give me a lift
--> my car mysteriously is waiting for me at take out.

how did it happen? a brother paddler (who was with a big group) saw my rig, knew where my magnetic spare key was stashed, and shuttled my car for me while he was setting his own shuttle car.

needless to say, his shuttle car had a six-pack underneath when he got out!

that, my friend, is the attitude one brother displays for another.

not trying to p*ss you off bandito. just saying with things like shuttles, catches and launches - no one keeps track and everyone helps out and all is well.

it all comes around - i'll bet jp has helped many a fellow kiter. (i'll admit on the internet he does add salt to the stew).

pjc,

the shuttle thing was not directed only at jp, but to the folks out there that abuse the " help a brother out and give me a ride back to my car " crap. time after time it is the same people asking for a ride, but never offer to do the shuttle with there car. these are the ones that just show up at the put in looking to "hook up" with a ride back to their car. how about showing up at the take out and then working out the details of the shuttle.

So is that good or bad or just a matter of ones taste???

I see the forum as a knowledge base where techniques, beliefs etc. are challenged, proved, dis-proofed, etc.
FYI When you challenge individuals "beliefs" conversation tend to be contentious right off the bat..
Hard to avoid that b/c people cling tightly to thier beliefs...

At for my nature to be a tad bit poignant.. That's the easiy part.
Storms of guys in white coasts have shown we human have a higher likely hood to remember a bit of information if an emotional anchor is attached to it...

There you go…
