Since I'm still on the injury reserve, had opportunity to thoroughly enjoy watching the start this year. Let's see your photos/video.

Guess kiters aren't the only ones hittin' the river in mass. This morning (5:55 a.m.) was headin' out on a long road ride when I was dumb struck by an apparent convoy of canoes headin' downriver. ...Had to grab the binocs and camera. Looked like they were in re-enactment mode with flags flappin' and traditional shaped canoes. There musta' been at least 40 people paddling among the 9 canoes.

The David Thompson “Columbia Brigade” is a group of paddlers recreating the historic 1200 mile route of the famed fur trader, surveyor, and mapmaker who traveled the ‘Fur Trade Highway’ by canoe from present day Invermere, BC to Astoria.

Gimp-status does have it's privileges; was able to enjoy the full spectacle of the event. The relay race on Sunday was a lot of fun to watch too.

I helped out with some basic slave labor trying to set up the electronic timing system for the KB4C endurance race. Sad to say it was a miserable failure because of water and electrical shorts. The vendor and I had many hours of debriefing since then, and I believe that next July we will have a %100 reliable system in place. Their product is very cool, with breakdowns in Fastest speed, Average speed, and of course Lap counts. The vendor's product is in use at almost all NASCAR tracks. It gives a speed break-down to the hundredth of a second!
Once again... The absolute best weekend of the year!

Thanks to all the volunteers and everyone who took part!

That kid was a rockstar with the guitar, freaking hilarious!

That's me in the helicopter pic!

Thank you to everyone for putting together again such a great event. My ride got cut pretty short unfortunately with a bad kitemare where my lines got wrapped on my Gopro cam and I was getting drug by my wetsuit zipper line. A big thanks to the fisherman who picked me up and helped me out.

Did anyone else have a hard time at that far buoy on the WA side? It was so close to the land and really tight with the trees, and the wind was flukey there. My lines got crossed with another guy there...fortunately we got free but my kite dumped into the water and that's where my problems started. I heard a lot of people were having trouble in that spot.

The auction was a lot of fun and it was great to see people opening up their wallets for such a great cause.

I promise there will be results and photos up tomorrow. We have over 3000 photos to go through over the weekend, funds to tally and the staff had to take today off to breathe. In fact, I'm going to bed now. More tomorrow...

In the meantime, here's one amazing photo from the start from Richard Hallman in the chopper...
