So I got my trainer kite and have been trying to get in as much practice as I can but the wind around town is not doin it. I'm headed out to sauvies this afternoon hopefully I can get a little flyin time in.
If anyone is out there today feel free to drop by and introduce yourself.

There is usually almost enough wind at airport beach to fly trainer kite.

If you are in beaverton, a good local place to practice with a trainer kite is the park at OGI.

SI has a pretty narrow beach right now, and its a little crowded for learning how to fly a trainer. You might have to hike around a bit to find enough empty beach that you won't clobber people.

Where is the OGI park?

I know how Sauvie can get with people, Im out there all the time as my dog trainer is out there, i hunt out there, and occasionally fish there.

I think he probably means the Amber Glen Business Park. It's at the end of walker road. There is a pretty big open field there and it's very close to OGI.

SI looks promising today. Yes even with the clouds. Will probably be gusty, but i'm going to give it a shot if readings continue to pick up....

Looks tempting. If I get Off at a decent time I'll be there.

If you are on the west site, pm me, there's lots of good flying space for a trainer.

I've been considering heading to SI this week, been there a few times but haven't flown there yet. Looks like a light forecast on seaweed/noaa/ikitesurf, not sure the 12m/150 would cut it. How are the currents there?

Probably strong like everywhere. The river is pretty wide there though so I would guess that it's a little lighter. I haven't been in it yet this season though so I can't say for sure.

Abort! Abort SI! Guess I was overly optimistic on the NOAA forecast.. Never fails when I "pre-book" a kiting work meeting on my work calendar... Sad

Going to the gym with the lil dude instead!

Haha. Yeah. I just called the airport weather line and it read "Calm" wind. No kiting is going to get done today.

SI was blowing ~15 side on-shore by about 5:30pm tonight Smile There's enough beach now. The current, of course, is ripping.
