I got me some Sauvies today. Very light wind, but with my trusty 13m rev and new race board, I was hauling ass. It si going to take some getting used to the new board for turning though. I think I need to work on my tacks and jibes again. This monster is quite a bit more squirrelly than a surfboard.

I think you can request specific dates from their "pay for" services, but who wants specific statistics that bad?

What race board did you get and who did you buy it from?

Just curious.

I was thinking of Sauvie, Friday afternoon-dusk, today, Friday. Looks like it might be a little too westy, but with that pressure change, I'm thinking it just might go.

I thought it was going to blow east in the gorge today? Sauvie hardly ever goes on the east

Yes, too much East is just as bad as too much West for Sauvie kitebeach.

I just didn't want to spend the cash to drive to Jones, and 75ish was very tempting.

NOAAs prediction for Jones:
Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 69. West wind between 7 and 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph (that could be fun if the commercial traffic wasn't too bad and someone filled my tank with gas ($92)).

Scappoose:

I bought a Naish Venturi. You can order them from lots of places online for about the same cost. Hopefully Slingshot will come out with one soon.....

How'd if feel? Looks fast.

I found a twin tip racing board with an adjustable fin betwix the footpads. Obviously not as fast, but it did look like fun. Weird how they make the footpads uber fat at the toes, to keep the board flat.

Sweet!

You should buy that so I can fish it out of the river downstream and just keep it.

it was really fast. Riding it was basically like riding a windsurf board but with a kite. What I mean by that for folks that never pole smurfed, is you basically are riding against the fins. So instead of putting pressure down on the edge of the board for edging I am pushing sideways against the force of the fins. I am guessing it will get more precise in its handline the faster you go as the fins will want to make the board flip over. Jibing it was ok, except it was so light at sauvie that i was worried about my kite falling out of the sky because of a loss of aparant wind. I really need to learn to tack.
