Call the Port and buy a preseason pass for $40, regular $50 . Limited time deal .
Parking will be more restrictive on the street in front of the Event site.
You use the grass, you use the bathrooms, buy the pass.

Hey does that pass only pay for the event site, or does it cover other places too?

works only for the Event site, still need oregon parks and a rock creek pass too, if you want all site access.

Just an FYI:

Parking at the Spit will be free this year and parking along the road outside the Event Site will be limited to 90 minutes.

Does that include all three sides of the center square dustbowl and the interior of that area? Is that center area going to be open for parking again this year, or were people just poaching that last year? Sounds like I may need to breakdown and buy a pass this year...

I am buying a pass this year, just as I have done the last five years, and support the fee as well as the Port's efforts to collect some income. However, I am a little concerned about the amount of parking available with the influx of kiters at the Event Site now--I am one of them. If I fork out money for a pass and can't park that's going to be frustrating.

I am going to suggest that the Port leave a designated "Overflow for Pass Holders" parking area either on the street, or in the dirt lot.

Thanks,
Eric Cohn

The Port has a plan for an overflow situation and parking will be made available.

The Dust bowl ie lot one will be opened on any day that parking exceeds capacity in main parking. This has happened very rarely in the last 3 years.

Some long term streetside parking will be available but will be further away from the entrance area.

You'll want to wait a day-or-two before you go to the port office to buy the discounted parking pass. I dropped-by this afternoon and was told that the passes had just arrived, but they weren't ready to distribute 'em.
