We are seeking volunteers who are willing to come out on Saturday to help with this clean up. All attendees are volunteers who are participating of there own choice and desires (sorry, but gotta cover the liability side).

Here are the details for the Stevenson Clean up

When : Sat May 14 – from (8?)9am-12noon
Where – Meet at the Stevenson Launch
Who – You! Very Happy
What to bring – See below
Here is a basic list of items that I think we will likely want to have :

Shovels, Chainsaws, branch cutters, a hose, 5 gallon buckets, a wheelbarrow or two, heavy tarps, you name it.

We can't ask you to fix the stairways, but nobody will get upset if somebody does...

The port is going to take care of the dock that floated in.

Any other thoughts or recommendations?

Feel free to PM me.

Thanks!
Mike Kirnak

Thanks to Pepi for the cut and paste. Smile

Hey everybody, it's on!

9:00 AM and we'll get started. If you can't make it then, come when you can.

Try and bring at least a shovel and a pair of gloves.

Donuts have been promised, coffee or other liquid refreshments would be appreciated by all. Very Happy

Significant others might want BBQ or take pictures! Bring a portable BBQ and be loved by everybody!!!

I don't see a location for the launch in the "spots" link at the top of the nwkite site. I have not been out there yet and would like to pitch in this weekend. How do I get there?

It sounds like a hairy launch/land... true? I want to come see it. As my confidence grows I can add Stevenson as an after-work spot -- probably only 30 minutes from desk to Stevenson.

Definitely a hairy launch!

Driving East on 14 you'll enter Stevenson. Bear right down the hill to the river. The launch is about 100 yards West of the boat launch. From the road it looks like an industrial park, but behind the buildings you'll find the launch. Looks like this:

I am bringing a pickup with a canopy if any debris needs hauled away. I have a small 1 yard dumpster available at work I can use to dispose of stuff. Have wheelbarrow, plastic 5 gal buckets (3) and a couple of shovels. Branch nippers. See you at 9. Looking forward to meeting some of the local kiters. Maybe it will even be kiteable!! Glad to see the dock is gone!!

We really really need somebody to bring a hose and a wheelbarrow. I was going to bring my wheelbarrow but it died over the winter apparently...

Thanks Tony!

Also, if anyone has any old blue tarps lying around, we could use a few of those too!

I can also bring a 100' of foot hose and a nozzle. I am bringing a good wheelbarrow too. I'll look for a tarp, but it may only be a smaller one. Is the gravel pile there for us?

I don't think anyone knows how the gravel got there, and the CGKA has no authority to stop people from spreading it where they may.

On a completely different subject, God Bless the hopelessly broken liability laws in the USA! Rolling Eyes

Forgot to mention; the wind gods were pleased with our work. After we finished the wind came up from next to nothing right up to 25 - 30 knot winds!
