The fact that were having a late winter here in the NW, flying off to some exotic destination as soon as the snow stops would be ideal, right? Well for two notches down on the exotic factor you can catch a flight or drive down to nor Cal, Just get down to the Sacramento Delta for some annual goods times. By late spring the Delta is firing at an insanely steady 18-23 mph all day long. If it's not, most of the time the gradient has pushed to the coast ( which is 2.5 hrs away) from SI. If that's to much work, go wakesufing behind my cuz's Malibu, or Mtn biking near by on Mt Diablo, or sit back and read a book. At night Club Sherman will be serving up fresh Margi's and spinning music from a pimping clean 1985 Winnebago. My 2%.... SI isn't the most amazing place ever, but if you bring a solid crew and you go mid week we'll have the place to ourselves.
So more the merry!
I'd love to see some familiar faces down there, while I'm there with a small crew of mine.
An old Stringy classic ....

I love the Sherm!!! If I could spend the summer there. I would. Just out of curiosity. What is it like in the winter? I'm an old waterski/wakeboard gal and love flat water.
I do plan on a visit this summer. I'll bring some tequila for the Margs. My favorite!
Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the info. I fly down to Sacramento for work a couple times a month. An hour drive isn't too bad especially if I can get some kiting in. I'll have to come by and check it out.

Sherman is not very good at all in the spring/summer. Lots of locals, lots of tourists, lots of people sitting on the beach waiting for the wind to pick up. If you kite there bring your 20M kite cause the wind rarely gets above 15mph. The California coast is super fluky and sharky also. The wind is horrible in the Spring for the coast, but gets good late Fall. Waves are always knee-slappers, especially at OB. There have been reports of whitey being spotted at Sherman also, and you spend lots of time in the water dragging cause the wind is so light. I would definitely not waste your time flying to Sherman. The weather is super cold, need a 6/3 wetsuit minimum to just stay warm. No flat water, and lots of fisherman dropping lines in front of the TINY TINY launch. Hardly ever any hot girls sunbathing in tiny bikini's, drinking beer, shooting the shit about new slingshot gear their either.
I will be there all summer, just cause its the only place to go, not cause its freaking epic or anything.

Damn. Sounds just like the Gorge in the summer and SPI in the fall/spring.
