The Sauvie sensor reads 16 from the SE right now . . . I know everyone says Sauvie doesn't work from the south but I'm real tempted. If there was a cam and I could see the whitecaps I don't think I'd be able to resist going out there and trying it.

Lol. Desperation!

I'd say forget about it. There's got to be an firehose of outbound current right now, moving in the same direction as that SE wind, and robbing you of your fix...

Nice. Sadly I'm not into paragliding yet and I don't have the disposable income to get into it Sad If I get that kind of spare cash I would get a new quiver.

The coast it is!

If you have to get a fix and really want to TRY kiting in South winds in the PDX area, try Broughton Beach aka Marine Dr, by the airport or Wintler Park on the Vancouver side (lots of current over there). Try the search function for info on these sites.

Go ahead and try to reinvent the wheel and attempt riding SI in S/SE winds; you must want to put miles on your new car and incur a very cold/hazardous swim back to shore.

If it were any good and or doable, don't you think you would see or here about people doing it?

I second the desperation factor in trying to catch Sauvie Southerlies on a stormfront. I feel your pain though. We all need to ride but Mother Nature can be cruel.

You can certainly try to ride but it's like beer-goggling the ugliest girl in the bar 10 minutes after the bar just opened.

Sadly I haven't kited Ft. Stevens yet (although I've been skunked there twice), does anyone think it might go on Friday? I have to be there for business in the morning and am jonesing for a fix.

Yes, it is this time of year for the prized Spring Chinook/King Salmon to migrate up-stream and of course for the less prized, but plentiful brownbacked corntrout to migrate downstream.

Enjoy your sail at SI.

The forecast for Rooster looks a little soft for Friday,
but I'm trying to keep my schedule open.

The water lever could be perfect for eastern tip.

It's just not right. All that wind and you can't use it.

I shit you not I literally dreamed about kiteboarding last night. Oddly though it was my getting ready to go kitboarding, I even got out to the beach to check the conditions, but I woke up before I got to ride. Sad day.

i'm looking over at the airport and it looks pretty sweet right now, if my car was loaded i'd go over and grab an hour myself. super flat water - if you've got the time go give a try

I dunno about thee airport but I'm in NE and the wind seems pretty southerly to me. Thats a good recipe for ending up in the couv shivering with a wadded up kite. It does sound appealing though. I hope I remember how to actually kiteboard.
