Sat Jan 22, 11 10:03 pm OT-How anonymous the internet isn't |
|
|
Snowy posted a link in lost and found section talking about BLOWMEAKISS website.
I has forgotten who this was and then hit the search posts button and it came back like a bad dream. Jesus and abortions blah blah blah.
Anyway, a few clicks later (2 maybe 3), and I am on Blowmeakiss linked in profile. Pictures of him there and everything. Information that he posted here confirms info that is on his website, which confirms info that he posted on his linked in profile. Definitively him
Just sorta trips me out. Sometimes things seem so anonymous and like you can rant and rave on the internet without anyone ever really knowing who you are. Then a few clicks later and all sorts of information out there for anyone to see.
Crazy. |

Joshie it's totally crazy. The push for social media blended environments brings anybody's history to everyone....globally....and assume NOTHING is private and be really careful because the paper trail you leave on the internet doesn't decompose over time. Sometimes this can be to your advantage, or disadvantage, if you know how to play the tail wagging the dog game.
Also, everyone should do a cleansing of their own info if they can from time to time.
Case in point;
There's a site called SPOKEO.COM that is an online USA phone book with personal info: pics you've posted on FB or web, your approximate credit score, home value, income, age, family members' names. Remove yourself by searching your name, find your page, copy the URL then go to the bottom right of the page & click on the Privacy link to remove yourself. |

That freaks me out. Anywhere besides Spokeo that you can get your shit off the internet?
I'm not that freaked out about people seeing my posts on forums, etc... But having access to my address, phone number, credit score, how much my house costs, how much I make is scary.

It's ridiculous Scrib. They give age, address, email, contact phone, financial history, family members detailed in an org chart style and a google map satellite image of your house!!! It's so crazy my first thought was it can't be legal without asking for consent first. Welcome to the internet. |
