I'm heading down to see some friends that live in Capitola (just south of SC). We are planning to surf, but I'm bringing my 11m in case it gets windy.
Just curious if there are some places to kite in town? I probably don't have the time or the balls to go to Waddell.
Any info?

The bay down there is pretty protected from the wind. In some storms you get winds that let you windsurf between steamer lane and the boardwalk (launching from the point above Cowell's and below the lighthouse), but no place I know of to launch a kite in town there. You'd want to head up to Waddell, and an 11 may be too big. Surf is good this time of year though.
And not too crowded either...  |
