The dude is a stylemaster beyond just kiteboarding. Living large on the northshore and killing it in the surf. I tip my hat to Tophat for being such a pioneer and individual as the guy marches to his own drums.

No leash required! Love those turns, strapless and unhooked is definitely cool. |

Somebody help me understand that bar he uses. To me, it looks like it has zero depower. Also, Im not sure what the pulleys do since it is a fixed loop to the bar.
Anybody know? _________________ __________________________

It's a pulley bar. It's the way most people used to ride, and now only a select few ride. |

Just how it looks... No depower with the bar, just the trim strap. The point of the pulley setup is to eliminate the centerline rope to the bar, making it easier to grip.
BTW, Christ almighty, he is good!!! |

the pulley was mostly there to make the bar seem bigger than it actually was. you could use a really short bar, but get the same turning characteristics of a really long bar. Good for big, slow turning C-kites. |

Great vid.
Pulley bars create constant pull. You can trim them in to get a little bit of range but with steady winds the benefit is you can really ride smooth.....and this video is a prime example of it. Not always easy to do but Top Hat has such great skills it's cool he flies a new kite using a 10-year old pulley bar because it probably just feels more natural to him. |
