Holy crap! They make it look easy. He said "25 foot Hawaiian style so what it that in Oregon about 40 footers"? I immediately told him 10 foot. We all got a big belly laugh about that one. What a great group of athletes! All of them were so humble and happy to interact with us mere mortals. There is only one way to watch this event and that is first hand with a good pair of binoculars. Film and pictures does not quite depict the real power and size of these waves. Suggestions for those interested in seeing it next year. Bring some sort of viewing platform. A couple saw horses and a sturdy piece of wood that you can put a chair on would be the ticket. Get a real good pair of high power image stabilized binoculars and a monopod. What a great day overall.
