This guy used to live in Bend and started the Bend Kite crew http://www.nwkite.com/forums/t-7750.html&highlight=tim+nelson. They would kite Ball Butte on Broken Top in SE winds mainly (maybe some other directions as well). It is in wilderness area so they (govt) is in the process of making it illegal to kite in wilderness area. I've been up there once, but the logistics are hell unless you have your own sled. . . Camas Praire is the promised land for snowkiting (closest to PDX). Well that is not true as well as people have been up to Mt. St. Helens. . . There is also some southern Oregon riders on this forum that know of a spot down by Crater Lake area, but again, I don't think that area is legal per say, but people have done. it. Search for Ottoman (guy on this forum), he can inform you of what southern Oregon has to offer.

What came from all the huff last year on banning kiting? Did they leave any spots for anyone?

Guys, go after Mcneil canyon on the Waterville plateau, Wa. It'a about 5 hours closer than Camas Praire and about half as reliable. Just make the drive, it's worth ever flight! Sorry another shameless plug to ID. Btw, it's way to early to start talking about SKing, buggy off to baja or Maui for awhile..........j/k.
