Has anyone FedExed a board to Maui?
If so, where do you send it? Can you pick it up at a FedEx Store? Or do you have to have an address and someone to sign for the package?
Also, can you rent a board for 2 weeks for the $200. it might cost you to travel with your own board? |

If you want you can get a roll of that huge plastic shrink wrap from Home Depot and use it on a duffel bag and ship your gear without a box. Same thing with surfboards. Pad the he'll out of it, shrink wrap it and send it FedEx. |
Agreed, and some good kite shops will even accept your gear for you and hold it until you get there. All you have to do is have a look around the shop and maybe support the local economy a little bit when you pick your stuff up. The Real shop in Hatteras was awesome and held my gear for 3 days before I arrived. |

Just package up your board and take it to FedEx and ask them for an estimate. Make sure to ask for ground otherwise you will pay about 3x more. They are real helpful and finding the best prices for you. You can even ship your suitcases. It is great to tell the counter person at the airlines that "I have no bags to check". _________________ KB4C!!!!!!!!!!!!

Upgrade to first class at the counter. The cost of the upgrade is often cheaper than the cost of bags. First class bags fly free. For example, upgrade to cabarete from Orlando - $100. Cost for bags 130. This does not take inti account free drinks and snacks. Of course this depends on availability. |

Shipping by UPS or FedEx is an okay option if you're flying somewhere in the lower 48, but anywhere else and you'll pay them more than it costs to bring it on the plane since it will need to go by air. |
