it's brand new as of yesterday, evidently. should be interesting to see how accurate it is -- could really make going to sauvie a lot easier!

Is that tower upwind or downwind of the launch?

upwind 1 mile: at the mouth of the slough (if it is #13)

if the sensor reads this - stay home...

The flag on the beach looked a LOT more west than the sensor history indicates. The west in the direction was (just) one of the reasons it wasn't rideable and why it was particularly bad near shore.

Another strange thing is that, except for the tide, it was definitely quite a bit stronger from about 3:30-4:30 that it was from 4:30-6:30, but that's not clear from the readings.

And lastly, I think one of the key indicators of a bad day are the lull readings (green line). If the lull stays at sub 10mph, that's a bad sign.

I think I caught that gust right at 6pm. It was my best 5 minutes of the day. Confused

yeah, total crap on friday. The new sensor lead me to go - but had a not so epic five minute down winder and thats about it.

We should keep posting up on sight reports to get a feel for the calibration of the new sensor. I'm guessing it reads high. Maybe it needs to be averaging 13 or 14 on the sensor to be rideable??

Here is the graph is someone wants to write up a session report to help analyze the sensor.

Yesterday was super-light, granted the tide wasn't helping in the time I was there.

I'd say the sensor is fairly accurate. People were out on anything from 10s to 14s, and most couldn't hold their ground (again, mostly a current issue). The direction does seem a bit off as well, like Steve mentioned. NW feels like WNW out on the river.
