One more HUGE THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who helped out this weekend. At the risk of missing someone and feeling really rotten about it later.... (and in no particular order...)

Yogaman - thanks for taking care of the Aquadocks, trailer, supply boxes, and other general support!

Grom, Rachel, Shannon, Sarah, Hillary - you guys ROCK! Making the Sponsor board, heat board, prize organization, music, announcing, and STOKE on tap. I could NOT have done it without you. Grom and Shan: your announcing was top notch!

Carol - thank you for all the prompting and reminders in the background and general great ideas to make it more fun and flow better. If it weren't for her the prize pool would not be as big as it was and I would not have been able to do the job I did. You are a huge inspiration! kisses baby!

Steve Fisher - thanks for all your knowledge and sharing of experience and guiding me through this thing. And for picking up the BEER, dealing with the medals and T-shirts and the last minute phone calls and reminders. Huge help to a first time event coordinator.

The Judges: Paul Porter, Kris Kinn, Britney Todd, Laura Maher, Ben Chambers, Alex Fox, Wally Gator, (and damnit, I'm sure there are two more but can't pull it out right now). Without you guys all of our planning and organizing wouldn't amount to anything. Your fair and accurate judging MADE the event. Period.

Richie the sound guy: Thank you for loaning us your sound system. That was so cool and helped us out tremendously. If anyone sees him at Walking Man be sure to buy him a beer or three.

Tonia and Greg: Thank you for the jetski support, flags, anchors, white boards, and your suggestions on organizing and running things and the insurance hook up.

Launchers / Landers / Flag people / runners: TJ, Paul, Jay, Steve, Justin, and the parents of the groms (sorry bout forgetting your names! I suck!), your service on game day was invaluable. You kept everyone safe and organized at both ends of the event. Can't thank you enough for making sure no one was injured.

CGKA: Thank you for dealing with registration, backpacks, T-shirts, and other miscellaneous duties I threw your way.

Vendors: The Eagles ran the beer garden and raised money for their local charity and Papas Dogs had a chance to showcase their new and growing business. Thank you Bev, John and Virgil. I enjoyed the beer and the chili cheese baked potato!

NWkite: you wouldn't be reading this without it. Buy Phil and Nicole a beer or pump their kite for them next time you see them out and about.

Event Riders: Thank you for coming out! It was great to see so many groms participating and the tremendous sportsmanship and enjoyment displayed by all of the competitors. You guys put on a great show for the crowd! (and your parents!)

Sponsors: Last but not least...Carol has listed them above so I wont repeat all the names here. But all you kiters, participants, spectators, judges, parents, forum lurkers and general observers, take a look at that list and make sure you patronize them in some way and say Thank You as they all kicked in to help put on the LONGEST RUNNING AMATEUR event in the NATION! Think about this for a moment. 2009 and 2010 have been terrible years for business yet these guys believed enough in the amateur aspect of this event to take some of their profits and spend it here in the Gorge. Their support ensured that this event was successful and that we will have continued rider participation in the future. We had participation from every major brand, from local shops, and even shops in other states! (Air Padre and Kite Zombies!). We had participation from businesses that barely know what kiteboarding is, but they felt good about supporting an event happening in their home town. We got some amazing prizes, killer swag, banners, flags, pop up tents, competition jerseys, and the list goes on.

So, a big double Thank You to the sponsors and I'd love to see some pics of the riders accepting their prizes and taking their pick of the gear pile.

My sincerest apologies if I've overlooked anyone in this post. We could not have put on this event without everyone's help and support and I appreciate each and everyone of you who contributed to making this happen.

Sincerely,

Tony Bolstad

Love pic 1086! By the expression on their faces it looks like someone just crashed and burned!
