I have a couple friends flying in to ride at the Gorge 2nd week of Sept. Are the winds usually still up through the month of Sept?

Like the others say - its not every day. But there are some amazing days. Especially out at Rooster. Every season I get at least one or two lit days on my 6m!!

Anything to be aware of at Rooster? Hmmmm....
1. Gay guys beating their meat in the bushes
2. Gay guys walking on the trails en route to beating their meat in the bushes
3. Gay guys walking back to their cars, you guessed it, after beating their meat in the bushes.
Other than that its pretty nice riding. Flat and SHALLOW water way up east, current can be a bitch with east wind, turns on early (sun up) and typically done by 1-2pm, really gusty, like brutal gusty at times.
Just had to ad this picture, too large to be my avatar

Haha, good one. That'll be me after I go on a beer diet for a few months. Now you're definitely posting the footage of you falling off the bridge going 3 miles/hour. No excuses!

Time to get a non-wide-angle lens setup going. Any options out there? I saw Whistler renting a different type of camera that people were mounting on their helmets.

Not too much to worry about rooster besides what has already been stated. There is a pretty long beach - assuming the water levels are relatively low. If you have problems staying up wind then walk far upwind - real far, cus the current and wind will be traveling in the same direction. And yes, it can get really strong and really gusty. its one of the few places I can ride my six. If you don't have a small enough kite i would stay away until later in the day. It drops off the later it gets. Just see what everyone else is riding. I've ridden everything from a 6 to a 13 and everything in between.

dude, the last time i was there was during those july easterlies. i would never say that i've seen it all, but even trying to avoid i saw way too much. September ought to be a bit cooler and hopefully less revealing. It is a fun place to ride, just a little collateral to deal with.
