[1) Waroo's don't fly well on stock turbo diesel or cabrina bars... (bars with pulleys)

I can attest to that - you need to disable the pulleys on TD bar to get it to work with the Waroo. Just add oh shit loops, get the lines even and you are pretty much ready go. The TD bar is nice.

I demoed the 7m waroo on Sunday - escaped the scene at the spit and sailed up to the hatch in record time - that kite is awesome (the bar did seem cheap). I got one on Monday and a TD bar (I thought it was plug and play - Not!). One tack out at Not So Secret Spot and the whole thing backflys at I'm self-rescueing back.

John from Seattle - Thanks Thumb's Up - spent 20 minutes with me re-rigging things and got me going. Worked like a champ Monday & Tuesday.

Yeah, the Xbow and the TD have pulley's on the bar--whereas the waroo has the pulley (two I believe) on the bridal. Gman--what color combo is your 7?

JP is back, and in typical form I must say.

If someone posts a legitimate concern over a kite, maybe its best to read and ask questions not just lambast them or put them into the "hater column" immediately.

I have flown several bows and flat kites. I haven't flown the best 9 or 7 and people say that they like them but I can tell you for a fact that the 14m doesn't re-launch for shit. PERIOD. The bridle just doesn't have the right angles on it or something. Even in adequate wind, it just doesn't pull itself up.

The 14 doesn't like to fly slow or in low winds...so what the hell is it good for?

Then some dude breaks his bar in half?

I really couldn't care less what kite someone else flys, if there having fun, then mission accomplished. For myself, I think I am going to steer clear of the best kites for now.

So 4 out of 4 kites hit the water and one relaunched. Was it the kite or the kiter??? The way you talk about your Protohype, it sounds great, i'll take one, when can i get it and will it be the same price as the waroo???

No I have 4 but I am selling them all! It's become obvious to me now that you get what you pay for.

Thanks shredjim for opening my eyes!

Its soo hard to determine the amount of sarcasm in your typing....

I thought you loved your waroos? But then again, I can't see a waroo standing up to ocean abuse (or forum abuse) LOL

If you read the first sentence in my post, I knew this thread would cause some reaction with people. I only stated the facts, nothing more. Pilot error or not my friends and I got a chuckle out of it when we looked on the water and all three Waroos were self rescuing. We said the cool - aide must not be tasting so great that day Smile Its ok that some of us have fun being on the non-waroo side of the fence. We get a kick out of observing the fierce loyalty that kite seems to gather.

Jim if you are flying a prototype North kite then your opinion is obviously biased. Why do you post something bad about the waroo, when you see it in the water? Its not like other kites dont crash as well. Also how many other non waroos were there in the water. People crash their kites and in light wind relaunching any kite is tricky. I wasnt under the impression that all kites should launch without any kind of work/skill involved?

Personally i dont fly bow kites, I hate them actually, they arent for my style of riding what so ever, but I can see the advantages for the normal rider.

What is the point of bagging on best kites because they crash?

As far as Lance breaking the bar, that sucks dude! But how do we know that other bars wouldnt have broken in the same situation. Hell even one of my Naish bars, that is 100 percent sicker than the best bars could have broken in that same situation, sometimes weird shit just happens.

I guess my (sarcastic) point was, I am not going to go online and bag on other kites every time I see issues. I could tell you all about how a couple of us on Waroo's helped a downed TD rider get his kite back from inversion, or how a gucci brand kite blew up on the beach, or got holes in the LE.

Then you'd come back and talk about some Waroo that knocked somebody out on the beach. Or a Waroo that had a bladder fail. Or one that couldn't get relaunched and had to self rescue.

I don't want to do it because its bad karma! Some day it might be you in the middle of the river with a bow-tied 5th line kite and it might be some Waroo rider helping you out.

ok, so for now on there should be no more talk about different kites and their performance because why on earth would people's personal experience with different kites play into the situation. When deciding which kite to buy I will simply judge them by how groovy and flashy their website is.

So in short, more troll and less info.

That way, nobody can say we sound like kiteforum and nobody will get all poopy pants when someone doesn't really like the kite that they are stoked on.

ok?

I don't think there is much info in this thread, all he said is a bunch of people's kites ended up in the water (including his) and they had to self rescue where as he could use his nifty 5th line.

If you haven't been to Stevenson when there were a bunch of kites in the water because it is coming out of the north and dead on the inside, then you haven't been to Stevenson very much.

And if you haven't ever had to self rescue with a 5th line kite because it got bow tied, then you haven't flown 5th lines very much. Very Happy

Hey I got an idea, lets all go to Stevenson right now... wind looks good.

This past Monday before 4th of July, my pack of downwinders and I saw some pretty awful Waroo behavior at Stevenson when we launched for our downwinder to Home Valley.
...snip...
My North Rebel 10 prototype fell on its back just below the embankment. With the kite directly downwind of me I gave it some left bar pressure and pulled up the left wingtip and re-launched it no problem!

On several occasions I've witnessed Rhino2 16m's invert off the water and blow the leading edge. Another buddy of mine put in Rhino 4 into a log and tore a panel. I snagged my Naish R3 on a barnacle then smacked into the water 5 min later and watched it zipper in two. Just stay away from kites!!

We can go on and on dissing brands, I've taken shots at Best in the past cuz they bugged me. But for me I'm stoked on my Waroo's, next time I'm buying kites, if another kite costs about the same and out performs I'll buy, simple as that, don't care what brand
