Whats a wheelchair downwinder?

Something that you are going to need to try for sure. First we flew a trainer sitting on the ground out of the chair for a while. After that he flew the kite in the chair (with a bungy cord across his waist to keep him in) and let the kite pull him down wind. After a few goes of that he was able to move more across the wind rolling in the chair zigzagging downwind. It was pretty awesome, filled my buddy full of stoke and was a very productive drill.

to original poster: give Rob Mulder at Roberts Sailboards a call.

he has worked with Kelly Smith in the past, who is a paralympic medallist.
Rob has built a paraplegic kiteboard or two.
He would at least be able to point you in the right direction...

hope that helps.
