The forecast, from various locations, not limited to Iwindsurf, aka, Ikitesure, aka Ikitesuck, is telling happy and joyous things. Things like it's gonna average 20's at the Coast for the next couple o days.

Merry am I!

If you would like to go to the Coast, but you have never done it you should pm me, or post here. How many of you people out there are ready to go postal on da Oregun Coastal?

Perhaps the forum would be a nice place to get a group of folks together and plan an all out coast assault.

Never kite the coast alone, ever.
Never assume that somebody is going to save you.
Never go out so far you can't swim back. Stuff happens.

Let us go postal,
Nice Very Happy Very Happy

I'd love to hook up...only been to the ponds, never rode Oregon waves...

Just got my first kitesurfboard and need to try riding strapless first - shouldn't take too long (I hope) to get that scene down?!

Got Tue/Wed free? Not to mention, in general, many midday days free?

PM'd u too!

Let's take a look at the forecast and head out around noon today. I have to go to The Event Site and build a board stand for my SUP's. After that I'm gonna role to da Coast.

I'm leaving from Hood River around noonerish. I wouldn't mind a passenger to split the gas, my van drinks a lot.

Cheers,
ron Very Happy

Aahhh man what a freakin killer day at manzo!! It was hands down the session of the year holy crap!! Was Sunny with steady side on shore winds and a 9ft swell!! I had countless juicy waves 3-4 feet over head and peeling!! Was better than sex!
I carved the shit out of those waves, nothing beats a big as wave you can actually get to shred up the face and carve big spray off the top then a big bottom turn and do it all over again hell ya! I'm still amped up from this session. I don't see another day like this coming rest of summer Sad

So, we arrived on the scene at 4pm. After a quick safety meeting, lol, we headed out on the water.
Specialk, Nate and I all rigged big. 10.5, 12, and 12meter kites. It was an awesome down winder day at Manzo.

Cheers,
Ron

Had so much fun at Manzo - beautiful skies, no crowds, huge waves!!! Maybe too big for an ocean virgin! Had a great time hanging Ron & Nate - thanks!

Thank god for the sage advice provided by Nate & Ron prior to my first ocean going experience too(10' waves are big)!!!??? Holy shit, I was having a great time...'til I ran into that wall!! Timing is a big deal, as well as safety's and leashes, sheesh! Tumbled like I was in a washing machine! Recovered my kite no problem - I was always under the belief that I'd lose a digit before releasing my kite - Not Anymore...

What was the advice regarding safety leashes?

I've been tumbled lots of times but I have never released my safety from my chicken loop. maybe i've just been in smaller waves. Is it that you release the chicken loop if you're about to be munched by a big ass wave?

PostThu Jul 15, 10 9:42 pm    lots of wind last 2 days Reply with quote

Wed, Manzanita was full-on. I started at 1pm on my 10m and quickly realized it was too much, switched to my 7m torch. I had a 3 hour session, wind was steady and the waves were cranking. No pics on Wed, but I snapped a few today (Thurs).

Today I only did a 1/2 hour session on my tiny 6m torch, it was too windy / gusty for me. Counted 4 windsurfers and about 6 brave kiters. You know it's cranking when both Mark and Cliff are on their 4.7s. Joe hit the water on his 5m, looked like he was having fun for a while until his kite went down in the waves.

If you have tomorrow off and you want to meet up and Jone's, Clatsop, or Manzo post it!!!!!

I'm gonna be at Jones but it's gonna blow at Clatsop, and or Manzanita.
****I'm ADD w/H and as a result I'm posting this current idea!!!!**********:0)

Just out of curiosity how many of you would be interested in a Coast Camp Support Group? The purpose of this group would be to bring middle aged men and woman together for the purpose of sharing light beers and low carb meals in the hopes that friendships and perhaps Postal Coastal experiences may eventually take place. Thus, leading to more trips, more beers and life long experiences filled happy waves and joyful off the lips!!

If you are interested in improving, sharing, or just getting more information on sailing the Oregon Coast PM me or post it.

If there is enough interest it would be really fun to schedule a weekend of sailing the coast. I could invite some guest speakers to come and share their knowledge and thoughts about the Coast. I know a couple of locals who may be interested in talking and it would be fun just to have a group of people together with common interests and full time jobs, ya know.

The KOA has a really good rate for groups and we could make a cool weekend of it.

Who's in? email me at repooc99@yahoo.com

Just an idea,
Cheers,
Ron Very Happy
