Never kited there but stopped by a few weeks ago on my way to Tri-Cities and looked like some promising flat water downriver from where all the fishermen were camped out on the Oregon side.
Where do you launch at? Where I was looked like all rocks, not to hospitable for a self launch. Is this a assisted launch spot? or is there somewhere that a self launch would work reasonabally well here? |

its is best to have someone launch your kite there, but you can do a drift launch at the east end of the rock piles. its a little wind sheltered but i have done it before. |

Yeah, if you set your kite on the tip of the rocky point next to the cove you can self launch pretty safely. |

K4L definitely hit Rufus if you can. The swell can be huge and everyone is always cool about helping launch/land. East point of the rock pile is best spot to drift and a good little cove setting to rig etc. You'll like it...and usually blowing when Hood or Secret etc are not. |

Thanks for the 411....stopped around 1030 today on way to Tri Cities again and wind was dropping fast, one kiter barely making it back in and another that didnt have enough to get out.
Found the spot you are talking about drift launching if solo and definatally looks workable
Back through on my way home tuesday, hopefully wind will be back then |
