Um......Sauvie......err.......(no "S") Smile

Turned on at about 5:15 and was great till sundown!

No lost boards, didn't need to be rescued by the Monkster or my wife Shocked

Curtis was killin' it on his 14M Hvc and Litwv Wng.

Good times. I actually landed a couple monster jumps.

Only bad thing was I broke a bridle (that means I had a good time) Smile

Missed ya, Steve, Kelton, and Salami n' Cheese.

Anyone know if SI is going to be bordable today? Wind meter is trending up but I'm not sure with these clouds.

The forecast show too west. The current gradients don't look good. The actuals in the area are all over the map.

If you want to kite bad, keep watching the actuals.

Fremont bridge says N7-14 right now

General wind actuals for the area show mixed direction (not a good sign):

Oh man. Just checked the meter and it's 15 on SI. Figures I decided not to go. If it was blowing straight from the north I would be upset.

Anybody who went care to tell me how it turned out? Someone told me there one time that if the wind is coming from the NW at all that the hill plays havoc with the wind.

Wind at SI is ok from the NW. Best if from the North.
If too much west or directly from west - don't go (wind shadow) unless you plan to sit and drink beer.

Looks pretty good right now. Someone's gett'n sum.

Cool

I kited till about 9 yesterday. There was three of us total out there. They were on the water till about 9:30. Solid wind, I bounced back and forth between my 14m tractor trailer and my 11 rev.

I endured a 200 yard swim in the current with folded kite..reminded me how out of shape I am. One of the guys sacrificed a LF recoil to the wind and current gods...

Was not a typical sauvie setup at all but you pretty much can't go wrong when the sauvie sensor (which is blocked by trees) reads 13.

Add 3 knots for current, its still ripping.

I never use wunderground but I would say not looking good for today at all. Airnet scapoose is predicting a max of five with lots of west. Both if those don't bide well. Watch the st. Helens sensor for at least 15 and an increasing Portland to Kalama gradient

You can have accuracy or timeliness, which do you want?

I can provide an accurate prediction by about 10pm this evening.

Gradients look pretty good for Kelso right now. Portland, not so much. By tonight, who knows....

My rule of thumb is: Is it sunny and warm, and mostly north? Go for it.

I avg about 75% success if you include "just rideable" as success.

I'm kicking myself for not going a couple days ago when it didn't look good early but picked up later. The wind actually looks pretty good at the moment though. I'm heading out there. Hope to see some you there as well.

According to the phone the wind has been from the northish and above 8 for the past hour. Just checked and its 10-15.

I am going tonight. I can't take it anymore. Wind or not I am there and hopefully not alone. Crossing my fingers....

What is SI like over the 4th weekend?

I am thinking about going today and maybe monday but I doubt I will go this weekend even if there is wind because I fear it will just be a packed zoo. I seem to remember that SI in general gets pretty packed because of 4th stuff and don't people watch fireworks from there?

Looking good for Saturday and Sunday.

I'll probably show up, dead tired (graveyard shift), on Saturday.

For some reason Sailflow's been more accurate than Usairnet lately. (at least on the good afternoons).
