One of the local coastie success stories is about a 30,000 hp tug Called the "Salvage Chief" basically a 40' engine with a hull around it . Salvaged $30 million worth of Benzs' after the towing tug cut loose a barge from problems and rough seas and was in danger of sinking(nobody could help them in time)
this was back in day when Benzs were worth something
several vessels were dispatched but the Chief beat them all to it ,
I don't know wheather it was claimed in full or salvage rights were agreed on ,
the story is they were all thiers
