Some people barely have time to go out on the water, are you suggesting they stop kiting and start driving around looking for places instead?

Anyway, seems a bit odd that HR is not doing anything - they're definitely loosing some business. A few people asked me what are the good places to go for a beginner and I had to tell them to skip HR. Maybe that's a good thing after all.

i agree, to many kiters in a small small portion of what oregon has to offer. my whole ish is that i'm pretty much forced to find new terrain,(unless i go coastal everytime i wanna kite)...and yes i have swam from the middle of lakes many a time!

at least i can tell you where the good spots are for riding down south,...and parts of northern cali as well...not that you'll ever come find out for yourself Wink

HR definitely needs the business we get from having visiting kiters (hell, I'm a local shop owner). The issue is not about whether we want visiting kiters or not.

The issues at hand regarding the Sandbar are not easy to solve, nor affordable either. This is the reason for reforming an organized Columbia Gorge Kiteboarding Association, to help deal with these issues at hand, and to attend to the access and safety needs of local and visiting kiteboards (or at least this is my personal hope).
I have mentioned this before, but I don't think many people understood my point. If we want to have accessible and safe kite launches, we need to organize a strong association to raise the funds, develop public awareness and establish land/water guidelines.

This is how the windsurfers obtained all of their launch spots up and down the Gorge, and this will also have to be the way for the kiteboarders to establish and develop improved launch access up and down the Gorge.

I think that it is probably hard to understand if you don't live in HR or have any awareness of the legal, financial or diplomatic issues that are required to make things happen when resources are in limited availability.

Let's please keep an open mind on these issues.

Don't hate the player, hate the game!

Thanks
Pepi
