nothing against Alabama ,but when we were visiting Gulf Shores in 99 ,the dude who lived there told us that "none of THEM lived on the island" while thats a while back
some color on thier "surgar WHITE sands"
would be a welcome sight to me
perhaps not that particular kind of color

yes it's a shame, oil on the beach ,but I don't see it as much different than
putting oil in the car and spewing it in the atomosphere
while the beaches are beautiful in Gulf Shores, all the polite and well mannered gents and ladies ,the underlying vibe was very racist
so I don't give a shit about hateful pricks
oil spills are just a part of life in a carbon based world
if I use it ,I'm part of the problem
I thought it was you who moved away for a broader picture ?
are you white?
Some of my relatives are African American(fromAl.) and I can assure you that to them Al. is still racist (I'm sure not everybody).
Just like folks voting for Obama and claiming they are not racist, then when he does something they don't like out comes the "N"

Wholly F*ck! Where is this thread going? Were talking about oil - not racism in the south? I had to go back and re-read the thread?
Who the hell cares what color Scribble is? The wind treats everyone the same.
And Blowhard - an oil spill has some differences to driving a car. Cars have emission standards. Oil spills get to do whatever they want. Maybe we should hire the environment quality department to regulate how much shit can get pumped into the environment with each spill. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights!

how about we dump all the oil in the water and just get it over with
end this carbon frenzy
if you put all the oil through your car it ends up in the enviorment
right?
I could care less what color people are, but claims of of little racism in the south
must be from a pretty sheltered viewpoint
anyway I was just noting some color on the beach in Al.
but I can see there is some latent angst about the south
not on my part ,I presumed it was always alive

Blowhard, do you drink water? Then you don't mind how water gets into your body? It shouldn't matter if water is shoved up your ass through a colonics or water filling your lungs? Its all water - so it shouldn't matter - and you drink water. Or better yet, what about frozen water in the shape of an ice pick jammed into a skull or shoved up your ass? its all the same right? I just wish people would get over this whole "I don't want frozen water in the shape of an ice pick shoved up my ass" frenzy its all just water people!!! Get over it!!
OK, OK, I'm just poking fun blowhard - no hard feelings meant. But on a more serious note. No one knows for certain how are actions are going to affect this planet 50 years from now. We have beliefs. I believe one way and can point to certain evidence to support my position. I'm sure you believe another way and can point to certain evidence to support your position. Who's right? No one knows for certain. But do what ya like - enjoy your life. I'm going to believe what I believe and do what I like. And I believe dumping too much carbon on this earth can have a detrimental impact to the environment and I'll do what I can to mitigate the damage. I'd rather not take a risk of effing this place up for the next generation. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights!

you'd better get rid of that Geo then
and start living outside (or do you live in the geo?)
and give up breathing
you can be sure humans can survive without oil of any kind (for a few million years)
but drinking water is quite another matter
last I checked salt water doesn't stay down too well
but I 've read reports of folks surviving in a life raft for weeks on end by using brackish water from a faulty still,, the colonic method
but drinking from the sea might not hold the answer.
shit, all large ships burn crude oil ,perhaps a better diesel engine and a scoop shovel ,
could be sweet ,load up the car after sess and tootle on home
tell me more about the "shoved up my ass" thing
have you seen my ass ,? it's purty tight
remember when quoting the science world
"liars figure and
figures lie"
The very nature of science is that until proven wrong ,,it's right

you might read the first post it clearly blames the bush gang for this
if that's not off the beautiful beaches subject
I don't know what is .
Always everyone is looking to place blame
fuk, i use oil, I'm fukin guilty,
I did nothing, I know about deep water drilling ,It's bizarre, why didn't I do something about that?
the Agency that monitors it also collects the fees for doing it,,,still under the current administration, for the last year and a half with both houses on thier side
still nothing
If you want to save some shit from going down the tube
consider giving your time or perhaps $$$$'s to help ,
Instead of kiting and having so damn much fun
don't say i'm a bushy anyone who runs government to 20% of the gross domestic product is a fool, even in wartime ,which now seems perpetual

According to Blowhard apparently Florence OR or wherever that grumpy old fuck lives there is way more diversity than around southern AL where there are actually African Americans. Since Blowhard pissed all over my post, then insulted me, my friends, my family, and my entire former communities by calling us all racists, I figured I would post something funny.
Why you are taking this personally,I didn't accuse you of anything
I don't know you or your family,if you take responsibility for everyone in Gulf Shores
fine with me ,I wouldn't expect it too be a really smooth road
But you are correct I'm not from a racist background even though there is always the opportunity to hate,I could never see the point. (plenty of shit to hate already)
But this post has little to do with beaches , mostly it's another hate storm,
with a thinly veiled attempt to show concern for the enviorment.
When does the current administrtion take responsibility ?
sure bush is a dipshit aren't they all?
let's see the list
health care ,,check
Gitmo ,,,check
Afgan,,check
iraq,,check
144,000 new jobs in the 1st quarter,,check
we are all not racists now we elected a person of color ,,check
At least we have not invaded any other 3rd world countries (so far)

Are you seriously asking why I'm taking it personally? I mean you said that you don't give a shit about the oil on the beaches in Southern Alabama because everyone there is a "hateful prick".
You are right that you don't know me. You don't know my family. You don't know my friends. So why the fuck are you calling them "hateful pricks"? You said you don't like to hate. Well that's hate. You are stereotyping an entire community based on a bad experience you had with one person.
I grew up there man. There are some racists. That is true. There are plenty here in Oregon too. I'm just saying I haven't experienced less racists here in Oregon than I did in Alabama. People are more politically correct here, but the same. There are stupid people everywhere.
Since you think your shit doesn't stink and that you live is a place that is so fucking diverse and non white, why don't you look at the census statistics. Portland by the way is considered the whitest major city in the U.S. I've been to the coast of Oregon. It's way whiter than Portland. The history I've been told there was some pretty fucking major racism going on here in Oregon. 86% of the people in Oregon are white. 70 % in Bama.
cmon man, you seriously want to say AL and OR are similar with re: to racism?
AL repealed it's anti-miscegenation laws less than *10* years ago. in the 21 st century! the last state in the country to do so.
OR did the same thing in the early 50s. before the civil rights era. when the US military was still de-segregating.
Oregon's been one of the most progressive states in the union for at least 30 years on all forms of human and civil rights. in 2004, it was a race between San Fran and OR to see who could marry more gay couples.
no offense intended, but please don't defend AL by beating OR up.

Well sorry you take it wrong ,this is not about you or anyone you obviously know ,
it's about a small town in Al. called Gulf Shores
an all white island (1999)in the middle of the Al. shoreline (with a brownish smurch now)
is just one of the strangest things I ever expierenced
but I am not a gated community guy
I'm from Springfield Or.
A town ridiculed by just about everyone
if that reflects on me in a negative way, so be it
why would I give a shit about what people think of an area
I would rather think we are all in the global community together
and jointly responsible for each others behaviours.
a "bunch" is not everyone
is it?
but it was not just one individual either

I didn't really intend to beat up OR. I love Oregon. Especially Portland. My point was just that Portland (and Oregon) isn't as diverse as everyone assumes.
For the record, I do not defend any of the bullshit that happened in Alabama. It's just time to get over it. I thought it was a hateful comment about the oil spill and it pissed me off. The vast majority of the people down there are very good people who treat everyone as an equal. There are also some shitty people that ruin it for everyone else.
I think that's about a good of an apology as I'm going to get from Blowhard :O)

These are some of the saddest days of our ocean minded lives as BP's well head continues to spew poisen into our ocean. All attempts at stopping the well head from gushing and containing the oil slick are turning out to be futile.
This is a perfect example how corporate deregulation and greed can end up destroying all that the Earth has to offer us. Oil is a necessary part of our technology and our way of life, but when drilling in the ocean all safety protocols should be enforced and not left up to the corporations to self-regulate and deem certain events "unlikely" and not have to take all steps to prevent catastrophies.
Most other nations require the secondary "acoustic shut off switch"which would have prevented this event by closing the blowout valve at the well head. But not in our country where profit takes priority over environmental protection as emphasized and politically promoted by such power players as our previous administration (Bush and Co.)
This may end up being one of the worst human created environmental disasters ever if they can't get the gusher closed until a new hole is drilled to relieve the pressure. BP America should also have all assets ceased and be required to pay for the whole clean-up and lost livihoods by everyone as this cancer spreads it way around the globe.
Next time some idiot like Sarah Palin starts chanting "Drill, Baby, Drill" everyone should remind her and her cohorts about this "Spill, Baby, Spill".
well ok I'm sorry , I got no axe to grind about southerners seeing how they are my family
it's just that for a springfield guy to go to Gulf Shores all white island
was a major leap.
If this a post about the ocean and beautifulness
why does it have such a hateful tone ?
Are we not all sadden by the events?
does anyone think that this some evil plan?
I'm sure the claim to largest oil spill is not what anyone would want.
