Haha, good questions. Pretty ballsy for sure.
I was thinking about how he gapered out the line for his buddy by starting that avalanche. No more fresh snow for 2nd guy down. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

That guy got in big trouble for that! There was a guide and clients ice climbing a route when that happened! That face is closed! Very impressive footage! |

- though he is a french dude
liked the wipeout - one man blanket party (the kite also conveniently doubles as a body bag) _________________ Go Deep!

Seriously...how do France's land use laws work for climbing/skiing - permits?
If it were closed - how is it that a copter was able to route him up there? Copter's alone can cause avalanche's.
Was the face closed before or after the avalanche?
Ditto to the insurance question Brian!!!

Too funny John! Glad i'm not the only one twisted enough to be thinking of other uses for recycled kite gear. |

It is a closed area! My french buddy told me the story, he is very good friends with antoinne. If you go to rogers pass bc there are closed areas that are not even near a ski area because they are slide paths that cross the highway. That face has no skiable runs on it after the top. You can take a lift to that area no helicopter needed! That face is always closed because of whats below it. The guy was pretty sure that the face would slide there was a nasty suncrust with 10-20cm of new snow on it. He was scared shitless and was at full speed trying to get ahead of the slide! sick!!!!!!! |
