looks incredibly complicated....

here's an idea that would help fuel consumption and the unemployment rate. No wind required. Although, wind does help.

That's probably the most practical kite power plant solution I have heard yet. Its brain dead simple, that's why it'd probably work.

Could you imagine how much pull there would be from that size of kite!

Rotor is caused by obstructions. Not too many obstructions on the open sea.

Maybe they could hire bambam to pilot just in case.

It's a single line kite, and yet it appears to be controllable and can be turned pretty fast ( for a huge kite). How do they make it turn? Servo motors pulling on bridle lines?

I think I remember an old 30m Naish being talked about. There was an image of it floating around somewhere.

Lmfao. 32 meters!! That thing probably comes with a set of fins to get back to shore if you crash it. Remember the good old days of relaunching old c kites by swimming to the side if them? Or the chicken loop with no release mechanism?

I did allot of swimmng in those days

Naish also made a 50m kite when Don Montague was playing around with kites and outriggers. I don't think it was ever for sale though.

Now Don is working for one of these green/kite energy startups funded by Google.

Makani Power. I interviewed there a couple years back. Wonder how they're doing.
