Alrighty, so I was supposed to be on my way to a real paying shoot when I drive by the Secret Spot and spy two Waroo's fully lit having the best time. Should I go? Should I go? Screw it, turn around at Rowena, and head back. Dust off the Canons, put a 'filter cocktail' on the lens and time to go play. Thanks to Felix and Bryan for braving the Devil Winds and giving me a little lens candy in the noon sun...

where it all starts..thanks Phillip!

Yeah..we only had about 1/2 hour of fun, before the wind really started nuking. I believe they were both out on 7's and at the end and it was pretty gnarly. Nonetheless, I've been anchored to my desk putting together the next issue of The Kiteboarder - I can honestly say it's off the hook. Amazing, amazing photography, stories -- it's beautiful. Perfect piece for the van or coffee table. Now that the issue is done, I hope to throw down some serious photography in the coming month. I never did make it to Oz, so I'm jonesing for water time..If you see the infamous A Team van lurking, you know the camera is around..see ya on the water!!

The blue color of the water in the secret8 picture is really sweet. How did you make it come out like that?

I've been working on filters, etc. that really give me what I used to get with film. This image is 'cross processed' meaning, it was like developing slide film in negative film chemicals (in a very short explanation), the result is altered colors, similar to what you seen in pic 8. Sometimes its a risk, you do the shot and hope the process works out. I really love that shot too. I also love the shaded edges - believe it or not, that wasn't photoshop or my lens, just the way the light funneled through the cloud at that second. Also, the cross processing gives the white line that glowly, blown out look. That shot was actually the first shot to catch my eye. Mainly, I was just having fun yesterday. Getting a little sun..thanks for looking.

Cool. I was wondering if it was a photoshp thing. That color is really cool, I had to check a few times to make sure you weren't sliding a picture of the ocean in or something Laughing Awesome job!

nope..lol..no ocean shizzle yet! I have a few ideas for the coast this summer and I plan on venturing further East to do some high wind shooting when all of the planets align right for the perfect day. And I'm usually more of a purist regarding filters, processing, etc., but I hate shooting in mid-day direct sunlight, so I played around to get a light quality that was at least interesting to justify the noon hour shoot Shocked
