Came across this in my search for replacement bar ends (Looks like it dates '03ish):

http://www.mit.edu/people/robot/zp/bars.html

Got a laugh or two looking at the bars and reading comments:

Quote:

- History. It all started with a few bold visionaries who wanted to waterski all day instead of working but couldn't afford gas for a boat. In a flash of insight they realized that WIND is AIR is a GAS, and it's FREE GAS. So they created the surf kite, an engine that runs on this free gas. And kitesurfing was born. Now it's six months later and it's become first a sport, and now an industry! It's time we gave something back to the community. I've been fortunate to have the example of some great local kitesurfers who taught me stuff like

...

- Job Creation. Kiting does cost money. Kiters need jobs. Most new jobs in this country are in the service sector, things like painting over grafitti and fixing broken windows. You know what to do.

- Preserving Access. The popular kiting spots are getting more and more crowded. Beginners are always getting dragged down the beach. What if a kid was in the way? Or a piping plover? One accident could get the whole place shut down like that spot in Florida where people kept getting lofted through a freeway into powerlines. So if you see someone acting irresponsibly or unskillfully, it's not nice, but you have to beat them up! Swear at them and throw rocks at their car! Update spring 2003: If you think they might do something wrong in the future, it's okay to just shoot them, blow them up, or lock them in a cage. I learned this on TV from the president.

I love this:

" So if you see someone acting irresponsibly or unskillfully, it's not nice, but you have to beat them up! Swear at them and throw rocks at their car!"

It will be the new kook enforcement tactic on the sand bar this summer.

The disclaimer is great "If you don't know how to kiteboard this ring will kill you."

Thanks Perry - that looks like it could have some potential.

BTW - who needs to spend 500 bones on a comp bar when you can make a bar out of old bicycle handle!!! Sweet!!

Geez Forrest..we are trying to tee it up for you and you still won't hit it??? Very Happy

Let us help you; What does the PKRA, board-off's, dangling, Martin Vari, the kite ring, and Johnny Weir all have in common???

MonkeyBoy....please chime in anytime as you know the answer.

This just proves it, I am not an original guy. I thought of making the same damn thing a year ago and getting Forrest to try it out.
