Changing Towels?

The fact that people view the nude section of the beach as this place where only derelicts, perverts and child molestors hang out says allot about America and all the puritanical mores and fear of the human body that comes with it. People have penis's and vagina's..get over it. I don't spend much time at the nude beach but I have kited down there and talked to the people hanging out. Everyone was very respectful and friendly and I know that they do allot of self-policing down there to keep the pervs and creeps at bay.

They also have two yearly beach clean ups that are co-sponsored by metro and are VERY well attended...which unfortunately is more than can be said about the kite community at Sauvie.

The last two clean ups that, quite frankly, I "announced" or planned or whatever went really well but quite honestly, some of the behavior was childish to annoying. Favorite memorable quotes....

"I'm not cleaning up down there, that's not our shit" --not really the point

"ummm, let me get on the water for a little bit, then I'll try and help" ---yeah, ok buddy like I wouldn't rather be kiting right now.

And my all time favorite quote from that french fuck head (as I'm leaning over picking up trash with a garbage bag in my hand)... "Dude, can I get a launch??"

I guess the point being, they do more good then harm. Sauvie is managed as a wildlife refuge and ODFW basically allows continued access as tradition. There is lots of beach out there and those "nudey" people are organized and help keep beach access on Sauvie for everyone so lets not be too quick to vilinize them.
