Railey beach. Southern beaches.
After Burma I am heading to Hua hin to meet up with the local kiting crew. Just going to mow the lawn.

Mike you heading over this way for a layover?

No... Sad I tried to bid one, but they took BKK away from the Seattle crews until near the end of the month.

Back in Thailand. After Burma it feels like I am back in the real world.

Now in Hau Hin. As I rolled into town I see a big billboard showing the upcoming PKRA event this march 11-20. Sweet! The town is like a Thai Stevenson. Nice and windy.

Sounds cool Mark! You going to stay in the Hin for the event? How's your shoulder? Good times in Burma? Very Happy

I leave Monday for 5 weeks in Thailand. So excited. Sounds like Hau Hin might be the best bet for wind. Kiting is not a priority though so not sure if I'll make it. Have fun.

Burma is a very cool place. Bit of a bitch to get into with all the paperwork and embassy crap.
People are super nice and make do. Saw a bunch of old ww2 jeeps still in action. Gov. Is wrong and evil. Crazy number of temples. You can have a temple to yourself. All in all I give a thumbs up.

So let me see if I understand this.
it's not the big basketball shaped brown jellyfish that leave welts and weeping sores I need to worry about ( which I can mow the lawn around) it's the nearly invisible box jellies?

Damn this jelly season we are rolling into.

Long live the fresh water of the gorge.

So long before I was a kiteboarder I was sea-kayaking in the French Riviera, and paddled through millions of those crazy clear box jellies!! The viscocity of the water was quadrupled as they were literally flying w/every stroke! Super gross, and I was freaked I'd fall in and have the zapping of my life! Shocked Shocked

So scootering thru town today trying not to get run over, I get pulled over for a u turn.....
I was thinking this is GT4 madness I get zapped for a u turn. Did u not see the five people on one scooter? The overloaded truck about to tip over? The scooter guy carrying a lazy boy chair? The people going the wrong way in the road?

Anyway he asks for drivers license.... Um right..... Very stern makes me follow him to cop shop. Sees my kite shirt starts telling me how he can body drag! We BS for 15 min. All smiles

Get a $500 B "warning" ($15 US)

Nice Mark! What problems can't kiteboarding solve? I talked about kiting at interviews for both of my last two jobs.

PKRA peeps starting to show up. Watched Kevin rip. Can see why he is last years champ. No Hadlow. He quit the tour. Toby from kite forum showed up ( no blue yet)..

Arm feeling fairly solid. Signed up for PKRA course race. Go team lefty! Still scrounging for gear. Still need a board. (sucks not traveling with gear. Can rent but my local peeps will provide)

Wind was nice and very steady last week or so ( ave kite size 10-12). BUT the wind switched direction last night and 3-4 foot waves came in. First let me say people were freaking cause of 95 degree 3-4 footers! Wonder what they would think of 55 degree Oregon coast? Lol
The waves took down the judges stand buildt in the water. It also took the skate ramp and buried it in sand. Bummer for sure. Guess there is a storm off Vietnam.
Luckily labor is cheap here. Should have things put back together.

Otherwise think sauvie beach with hotels and Stevenson water. No flat water that I have found.

Oh yeah, local instuctor managed to hit the only thing on a 10 mile beach.... The broken judges stand. Did it right In Front of Kevin. Shreded his kite.

Tommorrow is skipper meeting.
