Finally: Powder replaces Prozac. It was good today, and Monday will be sublime. I gotta show kids the wonders of algebra Monday, however.
Somebody get the goods for me...

There was a huge Avalanche last week that cracked at about 10k feet which is above their patrol area. They can only blow stuff up to a certain level and the problem is the area above Heather. Probably not that safe.

Meadows forced the artillery cannon on the forest service to control these types of events. Is that thing in operation yet?

I did not know about that but i assume if it was operational they would be using it. If the mountain was open during that last avy it would have been bad.

I would like to see that cannon go off...

Forrest the slide started outside of meadows zone, the are they patrol and are allowed to bomb. I'm pretty sure the have been using that cannon for a while. There is more info about the slide on the meadows blog. Looked fucken big, I wouldnt worry about that area being a problem anymore, as there isnt any more snow to slide where the slide happened. Plus it only came into meadows at the very bottom of Clark Canyon where it meets with heather canyon and forms the flat run out to the chair. Bet there are some big boulders still!

went today! a foot of pow pow which was good!!! cascade- not open, vista opened late- shooting star - nice for about 45 minutes. Everyone headed there first- skied up pretty quick. heather- not open. I watched a patroler cut it at twilight and it was stable for him. I know there was some avalanche danger with the heavy snow on top of the frozen slab, but more could have opened!! private reserve- opened late but not great traverse getting out. wet pow down that way!!! You could see the top of cascade and yes there was some wind but not too much!! IT was a monday with the parking lot full by 10 am. get some more stuff open and move the chairs before 9.
