hey gabe,
thanks for chiming in. not sure i would even go out in overhead conditions but, i have encountered some big waves on the N coast before. any pictures of your leash? i have some extra kite leashes in the basement and this would be a good experiment for sure.
thanks

It's always fun to play tea bag games with waves. I like to pretend like I'm going to hit the wave on a twin tip but then turn and run at the last second. One of these days I'll actually try and smack a lip, after I learn how to jibe a surf board. Riding toe side all the time is exhausting, lol. |

Chris, pull out??? Why would you pull out of a wave like that? That was a late off-da-lip attempt. |
Ahhh - I was wondering Off-da-lip - even more insane |

everyone I know who has made the trip downunder is pretty ripped about it
even with the lefts
The first part with the offshore reef looks damn nice for open ocean
Did you ever hit any protected breaks and was the water warm enough for shorts?
The leash discourse is what i'm thinking too,
last summer was a particularly big wave season here ,
after losing all my shit I was swimming through the break ,tumbling really,
I was thinking
Kevin Salter would have his board right now,,,,
but the leash does have its own set of issuses
wise choices Gabe,
but my main defense to live is to not take on things I would not do without my gear |

No protected riding, but the reefs help a ton by providing a consistent breaking wave and cleaning it up a lot. The big day footage was about as sloppy as it gets over there.
Near the Southern tip you'd want a shorty or maybe even a 2-3mm full suit for longer sessions. Further North we were toasty in a rash guard with 90-100+ air temp and 80+ water.
The lefts were amazing to ride even going at them switch. If you're goofy you'd be in heaven. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC
