Yes, really, it is true..... Wally (IPS Skate Shop) and I were able to successfuly obtain a permit from the city to run a full fledged rail jam in downtown Hood River.

Here are the basic details with more info to follow :

2nd Wind Sports, IPS Skate Shop and The Slider Project present the first annual :
HOOD RIVER DOWNTOWN SHOWDOWN INVITATIONAL RAIL JAM
SATURDAY DEC 19TH, MUSIC AND JAM RUNNING FROM 5PM-10PM
Additional Event Supporters :TIMBERLINE RESORT, CINEAPTIC FILM PROD, MELIKA, DC SHOES, AND ROSSIGNOL

Rails and Snow will be set up on the center of 4TH ST (between Oak st and State St) directly in front of the British Pub. As a result, 4th st will be closed for the whole day to allow for this event .

Put Dec 19th on your calender to make sure you remember to be in Hood River for this first ever downtown rail jam event.
More details to be posted soon, do stay tuned!!

**Invited or pre-approved riders are the only ones who will be allowed to participate in this event. This is an 'urban' rail jam, and as such demands very solid slider skills and 100% understanding that falling on 5" of snow on pavement is much more painful and dangerous than falling on 5' of well packed snow.

Nate and the boys have been warming up the rails practicing behind Nate's house. They have about 1 ton of snow over in his yard right now (trucked down from HRM lot) and they've begun sessioning the rails, super ghetto style.
You'd be proud.

23 hour and counting down to the Rail Jam!!!!

Sat at 5pm on 4th St, directly in front of the Horse & Hound Pub.

FYI - updates
This will officially be a judged competition, with prizes donated from DC Snowboards (XFB Snowboard) , TREW Clothing,(Tees and Hoodies) Shred Alert hats (Fur and slouch beanies) , and Candy Grind (gloves and mitts).

For those that riders that want to participate, you will need to arrive and check in by 2pm to help with set up and get your liability waivers filled out and approved. *Riders under 18 need parents signature and parents to be in attendance during event. **Proof of adequate health insurance is required by all riders.

Drink and food specials will be offered throughout the night at KAZE SUSHI, THE HORSE & HOUND PUB and SOUTH BANK KITCHEN, so if during the night you get a little hungry or chilly, check in with one of the restaurants to get warmed up and fueled up.

For those of you who might be worried about any rain outside, we'll literally have you covered with 6-7 10'x10' demo tents set up all around the landing zone. Bring a camera, cuz it'll be worth it.

Man, what a fun setup that was. Gotta give props to Pepi for pulling this off. It made downtown feel that much more like Christmas. I hope this will be the first of many rail jams on fourth street!
