been here for two days now.
yesterday was reserved for sightseeing with raul de lille of kite cozumel, giving us a tour of the island and showing us all the kite beaches.
cozumel isand is unique with many kite beaches and lagoons with the ability to kite on any wind direction.
today we hit the ocean side with waves on the south end of the island.
most likely weather bands created from tropical storm Ida, we expect much more intense conditions on saturday.
with raul being experienced with these type of storms (born and raised here on cozumel all of his life), he will be taking us to the lagoon tomorrow for some epic flat water.
we're hoping Ida turns east, but either way, its looking like we will see plenty of weather on sunday.
We're expecting hurricane like conditions so we're looking at just holding down the fort until monday.
with batteries charged and waterhousings ready, we should be able to get some good documentation of this storm!
anyhow, today we kited and here are some images of raul and the others in the ocean.

early storm clouds. should expect more of this in the next two days.

Sick pics

Be safe those tropical storms can zap you from a ways away (when you feel the temp drop 15 degrees in two minutes - run!)

thanks for the pics and updates.
Hope you are not staying in the upstairs "honeymoon" suite. If you are, move your stuff off the floor as it leaks.

Keep safe and thanks again for the updates. Tell Lisa I said Hi.

Luckly it looks like it wont be a direct hit. Should make some GREAT surf on the other side of the island.

yeah i'm actually staying in the honeymoon sweet!
not last night tho. everything above second floor on lockdown for hurricane weather but actually we had an uneventful experience. I'll have to give Raul De Lille of Kite Cozumel credit for his experience with these storms and preparedness. He kept all of us organized and told us exactly how to deal with the situation. Once we reached late morning he gave us the green light to head to the water. not many photos because we be kiting. but here's a quick time lapse of the beach during our session...

Nice! Thumb's Up

Jim, are you using a telescope head for your timelapse pans?

just using my tripod with a gopro nonHD regular lens.
the secret is in the panning tool. I got an egg timer, disassembled it and built a new housing to mount the cam and tripod. it will film 180 degrees in 30 minutes.
