Ken Winner has been the biggest naysayer of the flat kites, looks like he might be converting...

That's a BOW kite in my book, technically it's probably more of a "hybrid", whatever....it's no C kite so it's a bow to me.

What really matters is...is it more fun? Probably

I guess the question of "Bow" or not "Bow" is more because the "Bow" branding came from Bruno and Cabrinha.

Still why not call them all bows? that's what they look like... Sounds cooler than "flat" anyway.

Stuff usually gets named by the first brand to come out with it. You call it rollerblading not inline skating. Walkman not portable tape player. Etc.

Cool!! I love spy shots!! Did these shots come from the Gorge?

Wonder when the kite companies will start disguising the kites like the automobile industry does when they are testing new vehicles??

I see Ken Winner stays true to his word that he wont develop a Bow/flat kite without a 5th line. true complete depower in more ways that one and no kite spins of death like some are experiencing with the Waroo.

The bar should be interesting to see.

Dude get over your bullshit painting the Waroo as the only kite that death spins if you go the OH SHIT loop with the kite high...

Fuck man wake up, my 2002, 2003 and 2004 Slingshots all when into a death spin b/c the leash was on a steering line, not when I grabbed an OH shit, but when I let go of the bar...

FARGON IDIOT!!! wake the fuck up!!!

I was at rufus Friday afternoon, ken & sky where out testing the rebel. to me it appears to have a C shape LE however the angle that it sweaps back gives it a bow look for the side-rear view. To me, the kite looks alot like flexi's strike1

Couple of observations:

the trailing edge is not a banana and and it has no bridal. the profile of the LE maybe a touch flatter but by no means is it a flat as a waroo, xbow etc. actually the 10 sky was riding appeared to have the LE of a bucket 14 c with the last 15% of the tips removedm giving it a more open appearance for it's size.

To me, the rebel appears to be a refinment of the 06 vegas.
ken has achieved a kite the sheets more like a bow by the geometery of the leading edge being swept back and apperantly has dodged his first crossroad to eat his words about bows... by the details on the patent, it is not a Bow...

I was surprised to see cam battens on the rear of only one proto. I'd say they test 6 kites and were very meticulous recording ist's setting, line length and attachment locations, etc.

sling shot does just that... I remebered seeing early versions of the Octane that upon quick glance looked just like an 05 fuel in term of graphics & pnel layout.. they even 'misnumbered' them to cause more confusion... a good plan & way to test in my book.

Hiding in plain view!!!

I love it

Good stuff J.P. Thumb's Up Thanks for the info & observations on the North proto kites and Slingy skunk labs testing protocols !!

This stuff is juicy enough to make the “Gorge Inquirer” magazine. Kite paparazzi at work! Too funny... Laughing

See ya on the water, Dano
