This is such a load of hooey! My family has been going the Mexico since the mid-70's, my parents-in-law live full time in PV with their own car, driving all over the country. Never once has there ever been an incidence of tainted fuel. Pemex is run/regulated by the federal govt of Mexico.
I can image my 73 y.o. relations down in the countryside of Mexico with a a plastic gas can and a siphon hose.
Of course any fool knows you should understand some basics about metric to US gallon conversions. _________________ CGKA Member

David,
I meant no bash towards you, it was only your concept that seemed absurd.
As to to "come to ensendada and throw pennies on the sidewalk"? That's the picture of the ugly American that I am not. I've not been anywhere closer than 300 miles the Mx/US bolder since 1968 (San Diego USN visiting a whore house), other than the quick transverse to get south fast. And yes, we do see this behavior along the Malecon in a places like Puerto Vallarta or Cabo especially when the cruise ships come in. Towns to avoid.
Apparently I am very confused because I have not purchased fuel at anything but a Pemex ever over the last 30 years. So I suppose the easy solution here would be to avoid these mystery fuel stations you're referring to that are not Pemex, and might have tainted fuel. _________________ CGKA Member

Hello
I just like to chime in here because of all this "hooey" smells like poo-ie. Baja is an enchanting land that all should visit.. without the many of the preoccupations that they talk of here> i will try to tell you the truth
I will start with meester Deep Penetration, Senor David Peterson!
"first i speak spanish, and went to k77& k55 a bunch of times, twenty years ago, but sure nothing has changed, "
Wha ja ja aj you can tell the expert is about to speak!!!! so wrong
?>>>>>>>>> never pump gas dirrectly into your car, always a gas can first
This is just crazy talk. Pemex is like Petrol Mexicana, Its socialized, standardized, and regulated. Every station in Mexico is a Pemex.. A liter is the same no matter where you are (kind of nice, yes?) 20 years ago there might not a have been a Pemex, between TJ and KM 55, but now, after huge land grabs over the past 10 years, there are stations every few kilometers.. The only exception is the Catavina desert.
**YOU MUST FILL UP IN EL ROSARIO** or you might not make it through. But no one needs Gascans anymore.
The only bullshit is pump fraud, and it only happens in one town, Santa Rosalia... Its goes like this
Jose puts 100 peso of gas in his pimped out 1992 cherokee. pays the man, you pull in behind him. Then Juanito, the gasman, doesnt reset (zero) the pump and charges you the extra 100p straight to his pocket
All you have to do is pay attention that they Zero the pump...
OK
More DP BS- "we are not mexicans and thier laws are for them- "
Doesnt matter- according to Mexican law, a tourist has the same rights a a citizen.. officially so maybe learn the laws?...
"dont offer bribes ever"- whatever, if you brake a law, you have to pay. Taking the moral high ground will get your car impounded. And those of you who have been hassled for pee-ing in public need to understand that it is a law that is taken seriously here. If you say, "no es nada" then you are disrespecting our law to a cop.. bad idea
" have some used good clothing , child, mens, women, tell them you bring clothes to needed people... dont look at anything or you will end up buying it, touch it its yours at any price, they will be very offened if you dont buy"
Ok buddy, so you've to Nicaragua and Thailand.. what do they have to do with Baja?
And Senor Danger, watch out with your drugs.., while youre right about the new law, the cops can still hassle you. Only instead of jail, they now threaten re-hab to get your bribe! jajaja
Don't worry!
Just take it easy and watch out for ignorance and vacas en la carreterra! _________________ www.bigupsports.com
